I'm not sure what you're referring to, but if you're talking about in the daytime seeing a small piece of metal that looks like it wraps from under the front and runs up the front...then that's used to hold night vision goggles (NVGs). As it transitions to night, you place your NVGs onto the holder but have them flipped in an up position until you're ready to use them.

Thanks Echster, It looks like a bracket that something would clip into.

Sure would beat the starlight scope of late 60's vintage.

I can take a pic in total darkness with my Sony Cybershot. It has IR emitters which allow you to "see" in the dark, all be it in that eerie green color. I'll try to take a few to show you when I'm in Pattaya in October. The only ones I've tried are the inside of my garage at night! :D Unfortunately, no TG's in there.....

Just like Sa-teef, I have the sony camera that can shoot infrared, but mine can see through swimsuits and bikinis. I have the filters that make the camera see only infrared images. I am sure the military guys would love my camera!

Too bad I cant post some pics here!

In 1968 in SVN a rumour circulated about a pic of Ann Margaret??? taken with a infra red camera that saw through her clothing. Everyone knew about it but no one had really seen the pic.
