The thing I like to add is what happened on the beach, while I was there (and did not want to post it while staying in Pattaya.

 

I was relaxing under the shade of the tree and my "mechanic" came to tell me to get my massage. After two hours of extremely relaxing massage I waited while she came back with my coffee looking troubled.

 

"JR, can You pay me xxxx baht upfront for the massages, I need money quickly."

 

"Problems ", I asked, "if You need that so quickly ?"

 

"Police here and they want me to pay them now for being allowed to work on the beach."

 

I thought what the hell and paid upfront. After some minutes I rose and went for swimming. When coming back after a splash I checked the beach and yep, brownie boys were there behind a table and having persons "visiting" them.

 

Next day I asked how many times they have pay for police and she said "Every month".

 

So lovely...

BigD - I can't make the connection to the TPV now, maybe I am a bit slow? Pattaya Police is collecting their monthly "fees" from thais. What exactly would the TPV would have to do here? Arrest the police?

Your not slow, you just don't understand. With you living in the LOS I would have thought you would understand more than any of us how the system works. You must call the TPV so they can get their cut of the 'shake down' money.

 

It is a shame that this does go on, but with BigDUSA giving her a large tip, she should have no problem coming up with her monthly payment.

I guessed it was ironic - Just the regular police and the tourist police are 2 different pairs of shoes. i would have guessed that it was the regular police that was mentioned here.

i think BigD actually got the story on bkktonight board as he stated, as I said, I did not get the connection between the regular police and the Tourist police volunteers
