Reliable U.S. Travel Agencies

Recommended Posts

My friend wants to travel to Bangkok in February of 2005. He has been looking at EVA for that period and found that for Evergreen Deluxe it around $2,000USD.

Are there any reliable U.S. travel agencies that can get him a better deal?

There doesn't seem to be any other airline that has the "Evergreen" class of service. It is either business class or steerage class. My friend is a bigger person and economy seats for 13 or 13 hours are killers. He doesn't want to pay business class prices but he would be willing to pay a little more for the comfort.

It seems to me that a few years ago, a number of members were recommending an agency in the middle of the country or east coast called angel's or the name of the person was angel. I tried briefly to look this up in the archives but was not able to find the thread of conversations.

Any information for my friend will be helpful. He is ready to book his flight.

ajweiss1, not knowing where in the U.S. your friend is I'm not sure what

airlines are available. But, if you do a search you will find a number of

airlines with prices for less than $2000 U.S. going to Bangkok.

For example: American Airlines has one price listing at $1077; All Nippon $1205;

Delta $936; British Airways $1187; Japan Airlines $1200; Northwestern $1057;

United $1058 and Continental $1078.

These are the prices I just found doing a quick search for the month (Feb) that

your friend is planning on going.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

When I'm not dealing directly with the airlines I use Unique Travel located in Sacramento and have been very happy with their service as I've paid between $600 and $800 R/T form Sacramento. United Airlines has a class called Economy Plus, the seats aren't any wider but they do provide I believe an additional 5" of legroom compared to economy.

Try this out:

Angel Travel

Send them an email with your dates and they should be able to help.

Also, I went to the EVA Air website and looked at February's Evergreen Deluxe prices and was quoted $900 all-in.

I booked my upcoming ticket at EVA's website and got an additional 5,000 FF miles.

Thanks to you all.

My friend is flying out from Sacramento California. He might spring for the $800 - $900 for Evergreen Deluxe but he said when he checked it was around $2,000USD. I don't remember if that was EVA's website. If you use Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. I don't think you can specify Evergreen Deluxe.

He is considering towards the end of January 2005 and into February.

I will inform him of the info.

Keep sending it in since he still has about 2 weeks before he has to part with the cash and buy the ticket.

  • 2 weeks later...

ajweiss1,

As long as he is flying out after Jan 15 he should have no problem finding a fare. his problem might be he is only choosing flying on a out on a saturday and returning on a sunday. Since EVA fly out of SFO at 0140 that flight leaving on a friday morning and then returning on a Monday might do the trick. If he is leaving from SMF I would suggest just straight booking out of SFO. I used to live in SMF and for international flights I had a variety of tricks to get to the SFO airport on the cheap. If he wants detailed info pm me and I will send you my email. I give him the full rundown. I've done something like 80 trips out of SFO over the last 10 years. 2guns 2guns

I found that you should not accept the 1st fare on EVA's website as being the best fare. Tell your friend to look at all "special fares" on the website. Also, if he is flexible and chooses a day later of earlier for departure and/or return, it could mean a difference of as much as $1000.00.

Do you have a web site or email address to check them out?

BR,

I live in Sacramento so I only deal with them over the phone which is: 916-557-2888. I will look in the Sunday Travel section to see what they are showing for a fare from SFO to BKK. In the past these advertised fares have been with Cathay Pacific, JAL, EVA and United. If you want another airline they may have it a slighty higher rate.

Living in California and having two friends who own travel agencies, I don't think a travel agent can find any better deal on EVA then you can get off their wegsite. I just booked for mid January from LAX to BKK Evergreen Deluxe for $811 US dollars - with fees and taxes it came to exactly $900.00
