Christmas in pattaya-- cant get a hotel

Recommended Posts

I have just booked a room for the new wing in the Sabai Lodge hotel.  They would only accept booking after I agreed to pay 2 nights deposit on CC.  I could not find ANYTHING as cheap as the rates there by any other method.  Considering that it is peak season, I think that their surcharge for this period is reasonable.  To stay in the Hard Rock on New Years eve is over £200 which is Triple their normal rate.

thats where i'm staying in january the sabai lodge! i refused to give them payment up front and they still give me the room ! too much fraud going on to be giving your CC details to people on the net ! 41 DAYS TILL WHEELS UP :banghead

I am at the Sabai Wing (new building of Sabai Lodge) right now, quite nice (kind of like the quality of Sandy Spring with the atmosphere of the Sabai).

It has rooms left, but vey expensive, around 1900b.

Too Many People get too worked up with using CC on line This is how I handle it really easy if I did not charge it I am not paying for it so if Fraud takes place then the CC Company and Shop Keeper fight it out.

I have been a seller/buyer on Ebay for 6 years and when buying I always use a CC not 1 problem I think this Fraud thing is blown up too much

As Always My Own Opinion

Agree with Torrenova. HAve used CCs often, online as well as in Shops all over the world, so far never a problem. I guess it is really important to have two or three, as I am quite dependent on them financially, I guess when I lose my only one I would be quite desperate.

I've had two credit cards cloned in Pattaya and another guy I know had the credit card side of his ATM cloned and his account drained dry. These cards were cloned at the Flipper Lodge.

If it takes 5 month to solve something you haven't signed for I would send them the card back.

Someone had fun in Japan with my Amex card and it was one phone call and filling out one form. Real easy.

But after that I always use two cards in Thailand and never somthing that is hooked up to an account.

Think we just have to get used to hotels demanding a CC number with all the no shows.

Soi 7..

I had mine cloned for $1500 and that was 6 months after my Thailand trip, the charges were made in TPE/HKG. Closed the account and didn't have to pay a thing, the merchant was just out of luck.

It does happen, not any BS about it.

Used my Visa at a bank! for cash advance in PP, my one and only use in SEA. 4 months later found 4 charges totalling >$3k within a 10 days span. Visa killed the # and issued a new one. No monetary loss there, just a pain in having to update all my usual net merchants with a new CC.

This trip I'm gonna send Visa an e-mail stating the period I'll be in SEA. Outside of that period they are to refuse any and all charges outside of my home country. I think it is wise to let them know your travel plans, otherwise when their security kicks in and they try to call you at home and if no answer they might put a hold on your card. Fortunately my card now has an e-mail alert feature where if a certain amount per transaction is exceeded, you get an e-mail.
