According to the Star Alliance timetable Thai is shown as operating 6 x weekly non-stop flights between BKK and JFK from 1 May 2005.

TG 790 BKK-JFK 0:40 - 06:35 Daily except Monday

TG 791 JFK-BKK 12:00 - 16:10 Daily except Monday

Anyone know any more about these plans or are they no more than TG "wishful thinking". The flights are also loaded in some computer reservation systems (CRS) but no prices are showing yet.

I made a cursory check for LAX direct but nothing showing up yet.

The Singapore Airlines Newark to Singapore flight heads east over the Atlantic, so I guess the Thai flight will do the same.

How far north they go depends entirely on the weather patterns over the Atlantic Ocean, but it is certainly NOT a Polar track, though it may go over Greenland and near to Iceland.

I posted this in another thread a day or so before you and here's the info I had:

Well, seems TG has updated their schedule (thru 1 May 2005) and has for sale non-stop flights BKK-NYC-BKK using their new A345s. I don't remember the times, but I believe BKK-NYC is 0100-0630 (leave after midnight, arrive early AM) and NYC-BKK is 1130-1630 (leave late morning, arrive afternoon).

Word is the Chicago (ORD) non-stops will begin late summer or early fall (depends when TG get their A345s and crews up to speed). Note of caution: just because they're selling the tickets doesn't mean they'll be ready.

Also, it appears they will NOT be flying non-stops to/from LAX due to several reasons. Bummer for me, but I guess I'll have to stick EVA Air outta LAX. I'm not too disappointed as EVA Air is a decent airline and will be better with the B773ER.

It's good to see you found the times and posted them. Seems LAX is gonna be given the pass because TG can't make it work financially. Too bad for them as I would have been on any non-stop outta LAX. If TG ever gets off their collective asses and becomes competitive in the F and C classes, I would probably switch to them.

Anyone know if they will fly east or west from JFK?

BigD,

The actual route flown by Singapore is from the in-flight map thingy and shows the flight basically going NYC-LON-SIN .......... eastabout in answer to your original question.

I like the idea of a 17 hour flight time verus 28 hours including lay over with UA.

Calm down, guys! You've got to remember that this is Thai advertising the service. :grin-jump

I seem to remember in the spring that they said they were having a complete new image makeover and that all the aircraft would be refurbished by the end of 2004. How many are complete? Nil, zero, zilch ......... :P Even Thaksin seen fit to jump on their case last week.

Does anyone know if they actually have a sales office in NYC yet? :grin-jump
