Hello,

I have been thinking about staying at the Queen Vic on my next trip, however, in reading a review, it states something to the effect the the doors are locked at midnight, but you can use the fire escape to get to your room. What the heck does this mean? Everything elese sounds great about the room.

Also, besides the QV and Penthouse hotel, does anyone know of any other hotel that has in room DVD players?

Thanks in advance.

I stayed a the QV last April and had no problems as Bert is a great guy. YThe Penthouse rooms are the best at 700 baht per night. Nice and big with plenty of closet space and a TV and DVD player.

You will be given two keys when you check in. One is for the door to your room and the other is for the door in the rear of the hotel that has a stairwell. It opens the door on the second floor so you can gain access to the stairwell inside to get up to your

There is a guard there all night and he will sign in your TG for the night and ask for her ID to keep till morning.

Many on here have stayed at the QV, just do a search on the QV and you will see their posts.

It is in a great location as Soi 6 has many ST bars to check out during the day.

I've stayed there 2 times and never had any problems, as Bert runs a very good place. The DVD player is a great addition, as the TG's will love it. Get a couple of movies and you're set for a night of fun.

Fire Escape in a good thing, I use it during the day also...

Well worth your effort to stay there, I stayed in a Penthouse Flat

Agree with all thats said here. Stayed in July, you can read my review in the review section. You can go in the front and the back until the bar closes, and then its just the back. They do have a security guard out back after closing, and he might id your TG. All in all a great place to stay. Careful about taking a girl from soi 6 though, for obvious reasons.

Don't let the DVD player limit your search on available hotels. I purchased one in the US a few months back for around $35 and was told by Soi 7 that he recently saw them for sale at less than $30. The one I bought is about 9" x 9" and fit easily in my carry on.

sumo,

I used the cable that came with the player. It's the type that has 3 prongs on each end, yellow, white, and red. It worked on my TV at home and the 6 different hotels that I have stayed in at Pattaya. The player automatically adapts to the different voltage.

I got a region free mini DVD player on EBay and I love the thing in LOS, as it comes in very handy . I did have a slight problem at the Regency Park Hotel in BKK, as the damn TV was old and had no hookups.

Greg's post reminded me that the unit I bought wasn't region free nor did the instructions tell one how to convert it to region free. However it only takes about a minute to bring up a couple screens with the remote and make the selection to convert it to region free. I don't know why they don't sell them this way in the first place.

I stayed at their sister hotel The Admiral Lord Nelson which has the same setup. If you have an early flight I recommend you check out the night before. I had to get the guard to wake up a hotel clerk at her home and there were some anxious moments.
