Good duty free news for travellers

 

Travellers will be able to bring in to Australia more than double the value of duty free goods under new limits to be announced by the federal government.

 

Customs Minister Chris Ellison will release details of the new tax-free limits at Sydney airport, which come into effect on Tuesday.

 

Under the changes, travellers will be able to carry up to $A900 worth of goods including souvenirs, cameras, electronic equipment, perfume and jewellery.

 

The new amount is up from the old limit of $A400.

 

Travellers aged under 18 will be able to bring up to $A450 worth of goods - an increase of $A250.

 

The volume of tax free alcohol will increase from 1.125 litres to 2.25 litres.
