I am going to Pattaya with my girl friiend next month. Any info on the above hotel:

1. Guest friendliness

2. Is the resort far away from the drinking and shopping centre?

3. Is public transport (ie Baht 10 per peron) available from or near the resort

4. General condition of the resort

5. How to get the best deal?

Thank you.

I have been considering the Woodlands Resort for this years visit. Have vistited it last year and the place looked fine. Two pools. Nice accomodation. The best deal on the woodlands is to book with asiarooms.com or precisionreservations.com. Have used them both in the past no problems. Compare their prices to the woodlands own webpage and you will be pleasantly surprised.

However I have heard from other members of these pages that The Woodlands is not guest friendly. I emailed the Manager a couple of weeks ago who said guests can stay for an additional 800b per night, but if a double room is paid for by a single occupant then there would be no fee, but the guest would have to register at reception.

I would suggest that you email the manager and ask. Keep a copy of the email and his response and take it with you.

The woodlands is situated at the far end of the beach road by the Dolphin roundabout next door to The Dusit, 10b fare into walking street. There are however lots of beer bars nearby. I found it nice to stay out of the walking street area, and jump a bhatbus and hey, 5 mins your with all the action.

Would really be interested in what The Woodlands resort say if you email, or if you book in there, let me know how the guest policy really is. When u going??

Guest policy and taking your girlfriend??? Sounds grrreat.

From what the manager's reply I do not want to take the risk of having to pay fee even though I booked for a double room as they may say addtional guest also has to pay such fee even for a short time in the room as I have experienced this in other hotel. I took in a girl and paid 500 B for an hour massage in my room.

To be on the safe side I think I will have to book a room at Sandy Beach or Dynasty Inn and then take a bath bus to Woodland to confirm this. I will be in Bangkok on 12 March, not sure whether I have some time in Pattaya.

Thanks for info, you are right that Asiaroom and Precision rates are better than directly booking

Let me know if you need any help.

Cheers

I stayed at the Woodlands last year, nice hotel.

It was part of a package but it was made clear with the agent there weren't going to be any joiner fees. The hotel was aware of that and didn't try to charge us , in fact I got a double room and 2 breakfast coupons per day (do bar girls know what breakfast is??).

Only problem was one night a stroppy receptionist refused my girl entry to the hotel because of what she was wearing - (not alot in all honesty). She went home got changed, was let in, went to my room and took it all off so a big win for Thai logic there. I think someone had a word because it didn't happen again.

I think the thing is they want to to promote the hotel as a family hotel but are prepared to take anyones money out of season.

I stayed at the Woodlands on my first visit to PTTY several years ago. It was, and is geared toward family business. I had to pay a 500 baht joiner fee every night when I brought a lady back.I didi't want the hassle of relocating so I put up with it.

At the time, the Manager accepted the arrangement but stated that the lady could not stay late and could not be taken to the hotel restaurant or use the pool. I have read where these same rules still apply.

If I recall correctly, next door toward the beach is the Sunshine Gardens Hotel? and it appeared really nice as well, and they did not require a joiner fee for the ladies. I never got past the lobby but it looked like a good hotel.

Rockin'

This place is renowned as one of the most guest UNfriendly places in Pattaya. It serves its purpose, but if you are playing around, don't even think about it !

Well its been confirmed by the Woodlands Manager. There is no joiner fee if you book a double, otherwise its 1000bht per night joiner fee (ridiculous), and guest is required to leave ID at desk, but i smell a rat, I think there may be problems, as I'm not sure if when booking a double they will require a name for your guest, and when you appear with your guest and the names don't match up, they won't be allowed in. I think best steer clear of Woodlands if your desire is to bring back your lady firends of the night or day...

Yes Maco. They have used that line before with one I knew a short while back. They then proceeded to give him grief at every opportunity. (Had paid up front as part of a package). In the end he just upped and left and booked into Flipper Lodge (I think). They even tried to annul his return flight after that (unsuccessfully).
