I am in Pattaya for 2 weeks in April, and aim to spend time by the pool or beach sunbathing. Some people have told me it will be too hot and humid to do so ,is this correct?

Hot, upper 90's f. Humidity 95% and up. If you set by the pool bring your own fan and oh, yea! you'll need and umbrella. Other than that you'll have a fine trip.  :D :P :beer 2guns :D :D

Humidity will be sky high in April. I've been in LOS once in April and in Bangkok just stepping off the sky train (at night) or walking out of the hotel (at 7.00 in the morning) had my glasses steaming up INSTANTLY!!!!

I usually had to go back to my hotel to change my shirt half way through the night because it was saturated I was sweating so much.

Good point about bringing your own fan - must buy a couple for myself for when I go out later in the year. Anyone know where you can buy these battery operated fans in Pattaya?

As the others have said the weather will be very hot and humid. Be careful of a lot of sun exposure.

Even if you are a young and fit man you can easily get heat exhuastion and dehydration. Drink a lot of bottled water. Happened to me, it's not fun.

when i was there last may i had no real problems with the heat and i weighed in at about 375lbs then if you drink plenty (not alchohol)and wear light clothing then it should be allright, spend a lot of time in as well as by the pool and stay out of the direct sun and get plenty of rest as the heat tires you very fast

one more suggestion indoor bars have for the most part AC outdoor bars dont so if your getting warm get inside and have some fun

The first fime I was ever in Thailand was for the entire month of April. I had a blast, but it was somewhat like going on vacation in a steam bath. I think I went through about four changes of clothing per day. Best bet: sleep during the day and party all night.

I was in Pattaya in April of '93. Nobody warned me! Almost had sunstroke. All the advice above is good,....plus wear a hat during the day!

Now I avoid April using the excuse of going back to the States to do the tax bull shit. Allows me to avoid Songran also.

you can go to the beach for a couple of hours each day,you get a nice breeze and there are plenty of deck-chairs and parasols, food, drink and girls.cheap and pleasing on the eye.

i am also there during april 2005,2004,2003 excellant  :D 1luv

Yeah, its the Hibees, thanks for all your replies.I am now wondering if I should try and change my holiday until May or June.Problem with that is, does it not get wetter then. If so is it constant rain or is it a downpour for a time and then sun again.

To help fight dehydration. I used to buy essential salts in sachets in Boots. It was less than 10 baht a sachet and I had three a day to keep my right. Similar to the sort of product that someone who has diarohea might take. Sorry but I can't remember what they were called. It did say: For exerciser, who exercise a lot. On them though !

Hibby,

Don't change your vacation. Just go. But take it easy during the day. That way you'll stay out of the heat and have lots of energy for the nighttime activities.

Hibby,

As Rex has said, don't change your dates - just take it easy during the day and relax by and in the pool.

Rememeber though that Songkran in Pattaya runs from around the 13th to 19th April.

What's the bid deal about Songkran. If you don't like getting wet stay home. If you like seeing alot of wet t-shirts the head to the bars. <grin :beer :P 2guns :cussing 2guns
