DYNASTY CLASS CHINA

Recommended Posts

Hi i have just been looking at chinas home page and they state:Stretch out and relax with 47-50 inches (119-127 cm) of space! is this the seat pitch ie evergreen deluxe have 38 inches but is measured from the edge of your seat( ie where your knee rests) to the seat in front do china measure from the rear (ie base of your spine) of your seat to the seat in front sorry about stupid question but if you get an extra 10 inchs or so i will fly with china next time even though it means getting a connection they cost a bit more than eva i will save most of the difference on petrol as i usually drive to heathrow. Hope you understand as i have just read my post and i just about understand what i wrote :eyecrazy many thanks.

Hi ferocious go to search and type dynasty in the airline section but change to last 365 days rather than last 30 days, plenty of info for you to read but you might get some uptodate info through this thread good luck :eyecrazy

I have flown Dynasty class several times a couple of year’s age when I had to commute to Taipei fro the U.S. 10-12 times a year.

You get more legroom to try to sleep which is very nice, but it still is China Airlines, rated one of worst Asia Airlines IMHO.

I would try to find a flight that was not booked too full, get in the center section with nobody else there and then sleep across 4 seats – Works great if you can get it.

The other alternative if the flight was full was to get a seat on the emergency exit. I would stand my big briefcase on end, put a pillow over it, and put my feet on it – Just like a footstool…

I have flown china dynasty class three times and about to go again on May 8th.

I don`t understand why people compare China Dynasty with Eva`s evergreen deluxe. Dynasty is a business service even when booked as an upgrade (799 quid) with the exception that yu get economy baggage allowance (although priority clearance), and you only get econ FF miles. Apart from that it is a full on business service..including food, lounge access at AMS and BKK, free laurent perrier champagne!!! ok so the seats aren`t flat beds like some other airlines but the price isn`t 2 grand either!

As far as can work out evergreen deluxe is a premium economy service with a bigger seat and better food than econ..(highly rated so I`ve heard).

China went for this concept when they mistakenly changed their BKK - AMS route from dynasty to Upper class but only knocked 50 quid off the price.

not saying which is the best deal, but i don`t think the two services are comparable.

China Dynasty is much better than EVA deluxe. But flying from the Uk it has three main drawbacks

I) It is indirect

ii) The connecting flight is economy

iii) If your connection time is less than 2 hours it is unlikely that your luggage will travel with you

neil,

If you are travelling from the provinces, e.g. Manchester or Scotland, all of the above would also apply equally to Eva and Evergreen Deluxe.

ive been flying china airlines for the last five years from ams to bkk it's great cant say a bad word eat and drink as much as you want.

I'm 6'3 and when i have to use ecomony this is still room enough for me.Flight time's are great also sat afternoon from ams and return sunday morning back into ams ready for my return flight to newcastle.

Using the business class lounges as well as i been upgraded to a gold card china lounge in bkk.klm lounge in ams.

Great value for money i usually travel two flights a year with upgrades to dynasty class.Or if required pay the 180 quid for the upgrade.

They are also fitting out there 747-400's on this route and the dynasty sitt's have more leg room and or more comfortable than before.

Tom,

Point taken. I'm fortunate / unfortunate to live about 40 mins drive from Heathrow and sometimes forget that it's not as convenient for a fairly hefty percentage of the population.

Despite the points i made i do like China's Dynasty service and will probably use it again in June unless EVA's business fares drop a bit.

I know from your previous postings you have used Quatar's business class service. Did you book via their website or through an agent as Gatwick is only a direct train from my neck of the woods too.

which travel agent do you book China through ?

We book through Courtney Airsavers who are based in Newcastle. Tel. 0870 770 5500.

Gazelle also sell China seats and are also based in Newcastle but we have never used them.

From what I can gather the prices are about the same. :P

Neil,

I book direct with Qatar Airlines in Manchester. I just tell them the best fare I have managed to get quoted and they normally better it by about 8-10% plus there are no CC surcharges, SAFI insurance or postage costs added on to the price.

I enjoy using them from Manchester because on the evening flight Terminal 2 is pretty empty and it is a breeze from check-in all the way through to boarding. It means a 7 p.m. landing in Bangkok but I enjoy spending a few days in Bangkok before hitting the road to Pattaya. Likewise, on the return journey I try to spend a night or two in Bangkok as I find the road trip to Pattaya, directly before or after the flight, to be a bit of a pain in the ass.

I think that if I stayed near LHR I would stick to the one direct carrier and accumulate the airmiles rather than chop and change. It will be interesting to see how Evergreen Deluxe turns out on EVA's new planes.

  • 2 weeks later...

I managed to get upgraded on the BKK-Taipei portion of my return flight today. (Naturally, the Taipei-LAX was overbooked.)

The dynasty class seats on the Airbus A330 compare to first class elsewhere. The crew serves you quite nicely, but the food is only a slight improvement over the economy class. (The side dishes, canapes, salads, etc. are pretty good, but the main dishes always have an "off" taste to me. )

That said I completed the trip in economy on a 747, booked to the gills:

Upside: this plane has an upgraded inflight entertainment system with individual screens and your choice of movies, shows, games, etc.

Downside: The LEAST legroom I have ever seen on a 747! The trip out, on a different 747 was adequate, but somehow this plane was designed for 8-year olds!

Well, I'm already figuring how to get back. I will file a trip report as as soon as I un-cramp my legs. :livid

Travelled Dynasty Class with China last week Bkk - Ams. Travelled with them last year too.

Oldish 747 but nice interior with personal screen that pops up out of the seat armrest. Excellent food for the main meal.

The IFE is not on demand but adequate, however the software used is shite.

Seating comfort is fair and the recline is adequate. Seating configuration downstairs is 2-3-2. The cabin crew are attentive and efficient. I had no trouble consuming vast quantities of wine and brandy. Once my glass was empty a very fit stewardess was there almost immediately to refill.

The menu is given out on departure and the choice is excellent with both Western and Eastern choices. The cabin crew come around and take your order before departure. I found the Western breakfast to be a little stodgy but ok.

I dosed up on sleeping tablets hoping to sleep the whole journey but unfortunately a couple of Chinese ladies in the two window seats across the aisle from me managed to crochet and talk constantly for 11 and a half hours. I kept emerging from a fitful sleep to the sound of clicketty clack clack. How anyone can talk for all that time is beyond me.

All in all I will travel with China again.
