Sai Kaew Beach Resort (1600-2000 for bungalow) Tutu Bungalows– AoPhai Beach (one beach down from Sai Kaew, 800-1000 for nice AC room, no TV) Pudsa beach, quite nice non-ac bungalow on the beach from 300-1000 baht/night.

Millwall:

I would go either Samed Villa or Sai Keaw Beach Resprt if you can get them. Have fun, I really like Koh Samet and I am jealous as we had too much going on and had to skip our planned trip to the island.

Millwall, Samet is great, I love it, Hat Sai kaew villas is ok much better than Malibu further south, I will definately be there in about 2 weeks time either with my tilac or another if the shit hits the fan as I'm having trouble with her at the moment, I will be going with my mate and whatever good company we can find, maybe we wil see you there and have a beer or 20, sit on the balcony late at night/early morning with a bottle of johnny walker/smirnoff etc. and watch the sunrise lol.

I would also like to add what a great place Samet is.& only a short drive down the coast from Pattaya.Ive stayed at the Malibu resort a few times & found it great.Ok the pool is a bit small but the beach/sea are fantastic <grin

Looks like i might pay a visit to Hat Sai Kaew next time.

I was in Samet 4 weeks ago, I initially booked two nights in Pattaya. When I got there I was staying in Malibu beach and had to get a taxi (pickup truck) to go into the more livelier places. The road is atrocious and the pickup is the only way to get through. We hired motorbikes on the second day to do the trip, but be careful as the road is one big pothole. We moved after the two days nearer the town where the ferry lands at the pier (our first boat stops on the beach and you need to wade through the waves to land with the Thai lads carrying the luggage over the heads, anyway I'd suggest you land on the island and go from place to place and book a bungalow that way, it will ensure you are in the main part of the island, It's a fantastic place tho and I will defo go back again on my next trip

You sure you stayed on Samet :nod

It was a 3 minute walk to Malibu resort from where the ferry droped me off.

I would avoid the Malibu Resort. I found it overpriced and away from the action . Better to stay up by Hat Sai Kaew (Diamond Beach). If you are looking for seclusion there are better spots also.

If you get to BanPhe yourself you the have the choice of either getting on a ferry that stops at the pier in the north where the town is then take a pickup(30baht) to whatever resort you fancy (Hat Sai Kaew about 10 min.) or if you go on the Malibu ferry it does not stop at the pier but goes south (approx an extra 20 min.) to the Malibu resort where you are transfered to a raft to land almost on the beach, this entails a paddle in about a foot of water, once landed you can again take a pickup to anywhere or stay at Malibu which is right in front of you. The roads are rough and I personally dont recommend hiring a bike unless you like moto cross and are skilled in the art of "rough riding" :D. I have stayed at both resorts and prefer Sai Kaew for everything imho it's great.

ps if anyone finds a Kuggerand set in a ring in the sand in front of the Sai Kaew statue please hand it in to reception and I will pick it up next week as I lost it last year :crying :nod

Unless there are 2 Malibu beaches, or unless you thought you were in the main part of the Island and weren't :beer The island isn't very big so no place is very far away, but with the roads as they are it takes the Taxi a bit of a journey to get into the busier areas
