Its really not that bad except this past Sunday when it seemed that nearly half of Bangkok was in town and it was bumper to bumper from the dolphin roundabout to Pattaya Klang where we turned. Some big holiday where many factories and companies gave their employees the day off.

nidnoyham, it can't be much worse than Edinburgh is just now! :D

Roadworks everywhere, pavements being dug up everywhere, new traffic management set up in place which could very easily have been thought up by Bill and Ben. :P Is the traffic management being policed in any way? :D OK - I know it's a stupid question but what's the point of bringing these new road closures (to private cars any way) if you don't start enforcing the new rules.

There'll be even more chaos from the 15th May when cars are banned from driving along Princes Street in any direction.

If any of you are thinking of coming to Edinburgh on the weekend of 1st July, I'd forget it as that is when the G8 conference is being held at Gleneagles, with a number of protest marches being held in Edinburgh at the same time. Many petrol stations may be closed for the duration due to fears of a terrorist attack. Just glas that I'll be 6,000 miles away when all this is taking place! :D

If anyone is thinking of visiting St Andrews for the golf I would do it fairly soon before the Forth Bridge does a Titanic! :beer

Apparently the cables which hold it up are corroding at such a rate the Bridge will have to be closed within 10 years. Its so bad they cannot be repaired.

Mind you, that will solve the traffic jams! :D

Forgot the Pattya rule for crossing the road here in Edinburgh this afternoon. I was crossing at a point where there is no left turn for traffic (and only buses and taxis are allowed to turn right) when this fucking stupid bitch ignored the signs and made a left turn and just about knocked me down. The bitch didn't even have the decency to apologise. :beer :D :P She then made a right turn into a street which I'm pretty certain is one way in the opposite direction!!!!

Yes, I get your point, you could do all your shopping that way. Jump off, get a T shirt get back on, look for a lighter at the next stall. Of course this saveS you looking at the piles of rubble and holes in the ground- I like it.

Is it true that someone fell down one of those holes on beach road not so long ago and was skewered by a piece of steel or a pipe of some sort?

Or was that somewhere else in thailand? :chogdee2
