This will answer as to what you get for the Superior room as compared to the Deluxe.

I have stayed there 3 times a year since it has opened, and IMHO the Deluxe rooms are the ones to have.

It is an excellent hotel, and very good value for money.

I stayed at Arcea in a standard room and found it very comfortable with a large bed. I just made sure to ask for a king. The view over the balcony was not pretty as it was of an empty lot but that was over a year ago. Who knows what is there now.

Stayed there first week in September. Excellent value and very guest friendly. If you play pool there is an excellent pool room right next door. There is a beer bar right next to that with a fair selection, and Walking Street is a walkable distance. Mike Shopping Center is a two minute walk at the end of the soi. The coffee shop has a good selection of food. I did not try the dining room so unable to say anything about it. Nor did I try room service.

The room itself was large and comfortable, with a king size bed. 950 baht/night. Took a car from the airport and was there in 90 minutes. The hotel arrainged a car for the return which also took 90 minutes, although I went to a hotel in BKK rather than the airport. 1800 baht each way.

I highly recomend it, I plan to stay there again.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just checked out of the Areca after a run in with the night staff. My girl for the night (a living dolls showgirl) didn't have her ID as it had been stolen the night before. Fair enough they have a policy of not allowing joiners without ID's, if the bloke had explained that to me I'd have accepted it. However, he only spoke to the girl and how he put it left her very upset and he didn't bother talking to me at all. I might be feeling a little aggrieved at having missed out on the opportunity to get to know the showgirl stunner more intimately but it's not the first time I've noticed the (male) nightstaff show a lack of respect to invited "guests". To me that's the only thing that detracts from an otherwise excellent hotel with (as I found out) unbending standards.

PS I wouldn't pay any extra for a deluxe room. The standard room is fine and only lacks a view and tea/coffee making facilities. The in room safe would be useful though

I came in with a lady one night who was not let in as she had only a photocopy of her ID. In this case we were both shown the notice requiring original ID so I had no complaints. I would be annoyed also if it was put over in a brusque manner.
