Hi All,

My 1st posting in the golf section although I can confess to browsing through here on a number of occasions.

I would really appreciate some advice from the "Boys in The Know" please about golfing in the Pattaya area during the months of August, September and October.

Let me try to give you some background to explain things a little better. I have been to Pattaya a number of times over a 12 year period so I have some understanding of the weather, but not from a golfing point of view.

Do you play all year round and is it worth bringing my clubs.

Have this mental picture of the course being a washed during the "Monsoon" season.

Sure would appreciate any feedback,

Thanks in advance,

Cheers................. :chogdee2

Hi Jack....

I would definitely bring your clubs. There hasn't been alot of rain and the courses are in great shape!!

Also, during those three months the green fees are CHEAP.

Check out the Pattaya Sports Club as well. They have a monthly golf schedule for all the bars.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.....gp

We golf all year round and although it can get hot there is plenty of shade to be had and of course buggies and many watering holes help as well. Best weather is Nov to Feb when it is cooler. August to October is still the rainey season so ensure you have a brolley and be prepared to sweat a bit. Drink plenty of water along the way and spray with bug repelents as well as putting on sun lotions as even though the skys might be cloudy you can still burn badly as I often seem to as I never follow my own advice. LOL

Many Thanks Guys,

You have talked me into it good style.

Appreciate its not the best time of year but the dates are under negotiation somewhat.

Was there april 2004 and had some surgery at Bangkok Ptta Hosp, it turned out poorly so I am returning at their expense so they can rectify things.

We have now reached agreement (took a year) so its all systems go to finalize.

That is why I am unsure of dates but expect things to happen real quick now and have decided to stay on an extra week or two an get me some golf in.

Not played in over a year now and was off 14.2 so will have to get myself up to the driving range and loosen some.

Would sure enjoy some company too so I will look up the societys you mentioned although I do not currently have a "Official Handicap", would that be a problem do you think ?

Thanks again for the info......

Cheers.............. :chogdee2

Join either society and put 5 cards in, they'll handicap you. Both are CONGU and are "real" handicaps, they should be accepted anywhere.

The only problem that you may have is that, until you get a handicap from one of them, you may be off scratch if you enter a comp. Most golf days are comps, even if only a 200Baht entry. Personally I just consider that a fee for the organising, it's worth it to have someone sort the transport, tee times and playing groups out.
