Problems Accessing Pattayatalk

Recommended Posts

I can access Pattaytalk O.K and initially I can see all the various sections including the listings of the most recent posts. However, when I try to access say, The members Bar, recent posts will not be included - I can be a whole day behind!

I am no computer expert, which is the understatement of the year. I have tried deleting all cookies (does that make a difference? : B) ) but that does not appear to have helped.

I seem to recall this problem may have been raised in the past but as I have personally never experienced any problems with my PC in the past I am afraid I did not take any notice. I tried unsuccessfully to find any references in previous posts.

I would very much appreciate suggestions of HELP!

Further to my initial post, if I log in again on the PC I have the problem with I cannot read my post as although it appears on the initial screan as a topic. When I try to access it - nothing!

I can only read my post by logging in on another PC I have in the house which has independant broadband access. All is well on this PC.

Your description is a bit unclear to me but it sounds like you are having a cookie problem.

The problem can be that cookies are not allowed by your browser. To check this, go to tools - options and turn off security. If that fixes the problem the raise your security level to medium and try again. Some browsers also let you choose to accept cookies from named sites. If yours does then allow cookies from www.pattayatalk.com.

If that doesn't fix it, check your firewall (if you have one) Try turning it off first and see if the problem goes away. If it does look for a setting that will allow traffic from a named website. Insert www.pattayatalk.com then turn it back on.

If that doesn't work please give a fuller description of what you see on the screen when you try to access the site.

Pete,

Many thanks as that seems to have done the trick - I hope!

All my problems seem to commence when I recently upgraded the dialup I had on this PC to Broadband.

Pete,

I spoke too soon!

The same problem is back again i.e. I can access Pattayatalk O.K. but the latest comments on any particular topic are not being updated on my PC which is misbehaving.

As suggested I have the security settings set on low - initially I thought that had cured the problem but that has proved not to be the case. Infact some of the individual postings I could read earlier, including my previous comment to you saying it was O.K, have now disappeared!

There is no firewall.

Any further suggestions will be appreciated.

Danny,

One thought - have you tried clicking the "refresh" button? This can also be done, I think, by pressing the F5 buttion.

Could be either a cache or proxy problem.

If you are using IE, go to Tools - Internet Options - General and click on the Settings button. Under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" check either Every Visit or Automatically.

If that does not fix it then go to - Internet Options - Connections - Lan Settings. If you have use a proxy server checked, uncheck it ant try again.

If none of this works a simple and useful idea maybe to install and use firefox as your browser. It's better than IE and its free.

You can get it at http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Pete,

When I followed your suggestion I discovered that the "check for newer versions of stored pages" was set on "NEVER"! I changed it to "Automatically" and that appears to have done the trick! :bj2

I will follow up on your suggestion re firefox as an alternative to IE.

Once again my thanks and also to Winston & Alan for moral support.

Danny

p.s I have now installed firefox and I am very impressed so far - apart from anything else it seems so much quicker.
