Hi guys, just been quoted 2,000 from Bangkok airport to Pattaya.

Seems oil price increase has hit now. Anybody arrived in Pattaya this week by taxi, if so how much did you pay.

Posted

This mob will do it for 1,200 plus parking 20 plus tolls 145.

khrongfa@ego.co.th

Have been 100% reliable for me but Ting Tong has had problems with them.

Note if you go with your 2,000 baht rate and it includes tolls (ask) then tell the driver 'take skyway'.

Sometimes the driver has been given 145 by the company to take the skyway but doesn't and pockets the cash.

1,200 is pretty much the bottom line. You see signs all over town for 800 baht but it usually turns out to be bullshit. Taxi 800 baht private car 1,200 and no taxi available is the usual line.

Are you sure?

Was this rate two weeks ago. They do private car at 1,200. Mini MPV at 1,500 and van at 1,800.

Did you specify private car?

If they have gone up to 1,800 for private car they won't be seeing my business again.

I booked for a friend yesterday a private car for 1600 + toll ( about 100 ) The owner is a friend, I'm sure the car will be there.

Gabor,

What sort of cars do they use? I take it that this is the same company who have an office in View Talay 2A?

Alan, yes you are right their office in VT2 A on the first floor near the pool. I ordered my first car from Emanja on my way back to farangland in this year ( 1200 private car ) and it was a nice, clean, AC car, don't remember the brand. I'm a smoker, so asked a smoking car, no problem. Some of my friends used his service and they were satisfied too. Just drop in, call for Jacek ( Jack ) the boss and talk with him. He is a nice guy from Poland. They have nice sidetrips available too. Maybe not the cheapest, but reliable. He created me a personal 4 day trip with **** hotels ( deluxe room ) , all transfers from and to VT2, air plane ticket, plenty trips for the all 4 days etc. to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Golden triangle under 15.000 bht.

What I like about these guys is that they ask for your flight number so if your plane is delayed they don't take off. Two trips back I was a little over an hour late from Narita and my driver was still there waiting.

I was 4 1/2 hours late once as the Eva flight diverted to Dubai to let off a sick passenger.

Krong fa waited. They did charge me an extra 200 baht but I thought that was fair.

However I repeat for balance that Ting Tong has had bad experiences with them.

From what you got, I would think that 15,000 baht was a good price.

I'm thinking about doing a trip to Udon Thani or Chiang Mai early next year so I'll see what he has to offer, especially if his price is going to include transfers to and from the airport. It'll be my intention to take a companion with me :chogdee2 .

It's also my intention to get the hell out of Pattaya during Songkran though I've still to decide where I want to go. Current possibilities are Bali, Malaysia or Australia and New Zealand.

Maybe try Bali. I have friends, who spending their long term vacation in Bali and arriveing to Pattaya on the visa run. They loves very much Bali and they told me a beautiful and cheap paradise. Despite the lack of the bar sceene they say easy to find a GFE. Hehehe, however their visa runs to Pattaya longer and longer in time :chogdee2

I'm 10 for 10 with them. I know ting tong had a problem with them, however I don't know who was at fault. As an example about 3 trips back I sent them an email saying I would arrive at 11 PM on the 22nd when in fact I was arriving on the 21st. Fortunately after I sent the email it dawned on me that I may have given them the wrong date and when I checked I realized that I had and sent them a correction.

I see everyone talking about scheduling a car but I was wondering what about just going outside to the taxi stand and getting a car there. I believe they are about 1200 baht plus tolls. What are the negatives about doing it this way?

no negatives, and very easy to do just be aware of the touts ignore them and go straight to the booth, last time i had a taxi from the nana bkk to pattaya as we arrived in pattaya city a motorbike taxi escorted us in to the hotel i felt like the king with motorbike outriders taking us the quickest way :clap2

I've been to Sanur in Bali a couple of times before and that is at the moment favourite for my "escape the madness that is Songkran" next year. :clap2 I'll probably go to Langkwai in Malaysia in 2007 and visit Oz and New Zealand the year after.

Now that would leave Antarctica as the only continent I haven't visited. Any suggestions as to how to get there - preferably not by boat :clap2 ?

used Khongfah on 26 Aug. Price was 1700 + tolls (140) + parking (20). Was waiting for us with a sign. also knew some Pattaya short cuts that chopped a few minutes off the trip. First time ever that I arrived in Pattaya and did not come in via beach road. came in via Sukhumvit/Buakhow and direct to 2nd road and Tim's Bar Beer. Still agree with the suggestions of not using real name or real hotel (I told him to go to Lek Hotel - right across street from Tim's.

also - Alex wanted 2200 baht

Last time I'm arrived ( december 2004 ) there was a 100meter queue and with hard work, full of sweat was find a private car for 1600 + tolls. It was daytime and week end. It depends of your luck...

why not look for the sign to the train station in the arrivals hall? Go up the stairs or lift, onto the guarded road bridge, down the steps to the road & flag a joe baxi? No queues or airport loading fees here :chogdee2

2000 bht?? :D For that, i'd dig deep & spend a whole 10 bht on a train to into BKK, hotel for the nite (nice, newish 600 bht) have a good mooch round Soi Cowboy + a few beers :chogdee2 + lady drinks, fish & chips, then get the bus to Pattaya the following day & still have change left.
