I was just checking Expedia.com for October departures and the price has dropped from $1400 to $790. Great price.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised to see UA advertising ORD to BKK at $672 this weekend. Of course I'm shopping for the next flight within hours of returning! :clap1

They also had MSP to BKK for around $870, over $400 cheaper then August when I last checked. Both of those were for November travel.

The NWA picket lines were up when I got to Minneapolis Friday, so they are a definite grey area.

American Airlines seemed to be edging toward UA prices out of MSP and ORD, so it's good for the consumer that UA will still have some competition in the Midwest.

I don't know how long those prices will hold, but I'll likely jump on one of them within days.

Steve,

Don't wait, jump now. With airfares, he who hesitates pays more. Just ask BigKev and the $88USD JFK-BKK return fare, I turned him on to. He missed out but I booked it. :clap1

cathway pacific also has a sale if you leave from san fran or la and go thru hong kong.

Thanks, for the post...UAL prices have come down, especially in the midwest.

Ya, looking to plan my first spur of the moment trip to LOS...cheapest UAL flights out of San Diego have connections through Chicago...36 hrs. + travel...nuts...but dates that I want...

Seen UAL has a $5K booking bonus posted on the Mileage Plus site.

Anyone know of a current UAL "Double Mileage Code" promotion?

Why would you do that? Just curious. You said you are flying from San Diego?

Why not just take a shuttle to LAX and fly out of there? Do you have to use UAL for some reason? Mileage? Miles vs 36 hour travel time for a 20 hour trip? I would say screw the miles and use some other airline.

The reason I prefer UAL is that I'm on the verge of obtaining Premier Executive status (50K miles) with UAL ...200% miles for all travel (300% miles w/ double promotion code, nearly a free ticket for a trip to Asia), free trips come quicker, Red Carpet Club on Intl. travel, bump up to business if flight oversold. Also, do some cross country business travel and the UAL Economy Plus seating is sure nice for those trips.

UAL's FF program has many other partners to earn miles on / cash miles in on like Thai and Singapore, so stick with it. When it comes time to cash in UAL miles will try to make the travel on Singapore or Thai as other BMs do.

Have never paid for a UAL Asia ticket, just cash in 40,000 credit card points when it's time to travel overseas.

Anyway, called UAL today, and found there are flights from San Diego to Bangkok at the 40,000 credit card point level...may be a go.

Take Care, Bill

SOMETIMES...good things come to those who wait!

I JUST booked.....Minneapolis to Bangkok RT on United at airfare.com for $738.36 inclusive! Cheapest I've had (other than the free ones!) since SARS days.

I was concerned that I had blown it by missing that earlier sale, but the tickets dropped again this weekend!

It's a done deal now folks! :beer :clap2 :clap2 The month of November in paradise! :bow :D

See ya there!

Steve,

That's a great fare from Mid America Seems the Fuel prices there are not hurting the carriers as much as we think.
