Raven,

I love Thailand as much as anyone, but when it comes to cost of living and girl chasing, you'll find the Philippines a lot cheaper. Hotels and food are about the same price, but the entertainment can be about half the costs. More importantly, even for a proposed hermit like yourself, you'll find your US dollars worth 30% more in PI. That's a significant difference for someone on a tight budget.

Do take your trip and explore, but consider both countries before settling down into a year lease anywhere.

As many know, I live in Pattaya. I have business interests which provide a healthly income plus interests outside Thailand. I would not consider trying to live here on Bt20,000 per month.

If you knew Thailand, I think you would already know the answer to some of your questions. So I ask, why choose Thailand ? You have mentioned nothing about why you want to come here so I can only assume that you have heard favourable comments about the attractions here which is somewhat supported by the fact that you have joined a Pattaya web board.

Maybe you don't get laid at home and think you can get laid here ? You can, but not often on Bt20,000 per month. Beer, entertainment and good food (if you don't like Thai food) will not be available too often on your budget. Accommodation will be spartan too.

Go on a holiday for sure, but as for coming to live, forget it.

Torranova

Makes some good points I have and do live on 20,000 a month But as I have posted Don''t smoke ,Drink or Chase ass and almost never step into a bar. Do I wish I was able to do more in the way of entertainment ? sometimes maybe but I am fine living life like I am we are all different and some of us can and some of us cannot do this

One more point though I Live quite fine on 20,000 aq month I budgeted for 40,000 a month before coming over here so should I need it I have it. If you are thinking of coming over on 20,000 and no reserves may be tough :nod
