Alamo Bar is on the left hand side of Soi 8 as you are walking towards the ocean. Look for the sign with the state of Texas on it, better yet ask one of the beautiful girls on the Soi to show you. Might be a fun way to find it. :cry1

Anyone know if Gary is still the boss at the Alamo bar?

Far as I know he is. Last trip out of about 6 visits I only actually saw him once. (the locals call him 'the ghost').

Gary is still the boss but he rarely is there. That's why it's boring place to drink. Cashiers runs the place. Place is getting worst. I think he's going to dump the place once his lease expires. I don't know why he has that dump anyway.

Mike Post who sold the lease to him several years ago told me that he has the bar because he has no friends so he bought the lease so he can have "friends" come and visit him. Mike Post is a conman, paedophile and a low-life so becareful.

York

I am not sure how well you know Gary. I think Gary is a nice guy and was fun to be around with.

As for the Alamo Bar being boring.

IMHO, I think ANY bar in Patters could be boring if no one hangs there.

The Alamo is a nice small little bar that we used as a meeting place to meet up with expats in town.

If I wanted a ber bar that was larger and loud with music, there are plenty of places to hang out.

To each his own with regards to what board members like in their bars to hang out at.

When Gary is around guys come in, drink and shoot the breeze. When he's not there, nobody stops in except me. Sometimes I just like to drink and not shoot the breeze. I'll stop in next Sunday around 3PM.

Maybe, I'll get lucky and run ito Gary.

I've passed the bar many times but never noted it as anything special so I never stopped (but so many bars to visit!). I'm to return in Feb and will be staying at the Flipper Lodge nearby. I'll be sure to check it out.
