hotels on koh samet

hi guys....

 

thinking of doing koh samet for a few days can anyone recomend a hotel or two......about 1000 baht a night.....

stayed in the Ao prao resort, but it was nearly 10k per night. also stopped in another place can not remember what it was called, it was the cheapest place i could find and it was still 3k per night. that was last july and everywhere was full. i don't think you'll get anywhere around 1k.

Ao prao seems the nicest, but will be quiet on the west side of the Island. Can get online for around 2,800-4,000. http://www.precisionreservations.com

 

Sai Kaew Beach Resort quoted me 1,000/night in person, but two years ago, and have heard good things about it. Looked nice too and on main beach with a lot of places to eat and hang out. Unfortunately, I stayed with my friend at Malibu, which I would not recommend.

 

Samed Cliff is supposed to be good, 1400 but includes tax and bfast:

1000 baht a night. All I know is when I went in Feb-March of '05 Sai Kaew was already up around 2000 a night, not sure what you can find. You may have to search yourself some. I didn't even find a hotel that cheap in Pattaya and you have to remember that Koh Samet is a very tourist driven economy so have fun trying to find a room for that rate.

My impression is Koh Samet hotels are very much overpriced. Don't expect same sort of rate as Pattaya.

 

I stayed in Ao Prao Resort not long ago. The room, service, and breakfast are merely 3.5*. However, its price is on par with 5* hotels.

 

Adjacent to Ao Prao is a resort hotel called Lima Coco. Look OK, but not cheap either.

Pattaya is value for money. When you go Samet, Samui and all the other islands you usually pay a lot more.
