new airport

i have talk to some pilot friends lately. they do not know if the new airport will retain the bkk code or have a new one. has anyone here heard anything on the code? i would hate to think i am getting taxi for bkk and have it go to bangkok. if they do not have new code maybe we could vote one in. only 3 letters so BBBJ is not to be used . but on a serious note any info would be nice. chockdee kap.4 months, then fun time. cheers

I think you only get a code if you open the airport for planes to land see how long it takes before it opens.

Its ICAO code will be VTBS and the IATA code of BKK will transfer over from Don Muang. The present BKK will get a new IATA code.
