Child birth certificate

Hospital where the birth occured will provide "Certificate of birth" and then this with mothers ID, Family papers etc take to city hall who will issue "birth certificate" for the child. :D

That's correct - only, if you are not in Pattaya - you have to go tot he district office under which jurisdiction the hospital falls. Pretty easy and fast. Make sure you bring along your original passport and that your Visa is up to date :banana That is if you want your name written in teh Birth Certificate as father - Can be essential when applying for citizenship for your son/daughter at your embassy.

I concur and as soon as you finish that. Go to your embassy and get a passport for your kid. Two years ago, I helped a Thai women get US Social Security benefits for her son whose American father had died. With a copy of his passport it was easy for me to get his dads death certificate from Mississippi and hook him up with monthly benefits till he turns 18 or 22 if he goes on to college.
