Are there any hot spots for buying quality clubs in the area? Hong Kong or Singapore maybe? I'm due for an upgrade soon and might combine a club buying/"sight seeing" trip.

There's a great place in Bangkok called Thaniya Plaza. It's on Silom Road and has 4 or 5 floors of nothing but golf equipment. There are some good deals to be had if you look around.

I also bought a Nike CPR Hybrid club from Supersports (part of BIG C).

Hope this helps...

I bought a set of Daiwa Hi-Trac Tour's 18 months ago at Thaniya in Bangkok. Got a great deal on them with some haggling. US$350.00.

gp2002 is correct you would have to spend a good half day checking out the various shops there. Singapore has plenty of golf stores but I never found the prices to be all that terrific.

I'll defer to GP2002's greater knowledge, but just be careful of knockoffs (e.g., Callaways), as I've both read and seen reports (I think 60 Minutes had one awhile ago) of China mass producing fakes that look good but are poor quality.

Is there any place in Bangkok that sells KZG's?

Blazer,

I think your best bet is to try Thaniya Plaza in Bangkok. I did a websearch and came up with the 2 places that might sell KZG. Some of it is in Thai and I can't interpet it.

Macdonald Golf at Thaniya Plaza 3rd floor room 346-347 Silom Road

or

Hub is right about the knock offs......as for the greater knowledge, I am not sure :cry1

You can usually tell by the price. If it is SO cheap for a name brand, it's probably a fake. Sometimes, just set the club down, especially putters, and you can tell right away. I have even had the salesperson tell me it was a fake (when I asked).

Good luck

Thanks Sammy,

On my next trip to LOS I plan to get a set. I've hit KZG's and think they make a great forged iron. Nothing like a custom fitted club.

Anyone know if they sell

Adams Idea A1 Hybrids, MacGregor V-Foil M455 or Ben Hogan BH5 in Bangkok ?

I couldn't find them in any of the stores in Pattaya and I wanted to try them out before I buy Wilson DI5 which I demo-ed and liked.

I'm a brand new golfer, just learning to swing properly and Doghaus set me up with an instructor and he (the instructor) told me that I should get a set of clubs now but the Callaways and Ping's etc. that they have in Pattaya are 40k just for the iron sets.

I ended up buying a set of Ping I5 irons with Ping Driver, 3, 5 woods. They had a demo day locally which gave me a chance to test out most named brands. I went with Ping because they mad it easiest to customize my clubs. Shafts +1inch with 4degree upright. Now if I can just figure out how to use them. The first round with the new irons I never hit a green in regulation.

I bought a set of Wilson Killer whales with firestar shafts and a junior set for my son at the Golf shop in Outlet village in Pattaya sukhumvit rd by Tesco Lotus. Paid 19000 bht for the Killer Whales I am no expert but I was happy with the price and more than happy with the clubs. They do quite a few deals there
