Renting in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure when I'll be coming over, but I do plan to stay for a good few months at least.

Can anyone suggest any websites that show what places are available to rent and how much they cost, including water and electricity etc.

Size is not too important, but I'd prefer aircon and a very stable, fairly quick ADSL line. Hopefully the place would have a fridge, and some kind of room safe would be ideal. A community swimming pool would also be great.

I'd prefer to be within walking distance of the main places in Pattaya, such as Walking Street and Bahtbus routes. Nothing too remote, as I'd be on my own and would like to feel reasonably safe living there.

Thanks.

My view would be that you wont get all your wishes cheaply.

Very cheap rooms at say 8000B a mnth you will get air con but no pool,ADSL

or in room safe.

If you go up one level to budget hotel say 15000B per mnth, you probably get all but ADSL.

To get all it will cost around 20000B.

I have about 20 real estate agencies bookmarked. Found them all through Google, just go for Pattaya Real Estate and they will all show up. Rentals and sales all available.

Not sure if they update websites (some do) but at least it will give you a good idea of prices & availability.

Suggest you stay a couple of nights in a hotel and look around to find a place you want to stay for longer time.

Can't say where I saw it, but there was a post somewhere that suggested RE agencies would hammer you on rent. Working directly with a landlord was recommended, and to know which to work with, consult BMs here or after you're there, the expats living there.

Regardless, the idea is hotel for a while to give yourself a chance to get educated.

Can't always tell that much from websites. They are extremely unlikely to tell you about the gay guys next door that party until 4 am every night. Your best bet is to come and look around and try a place out before you decide. The Soi Diana and Soi LK areas have been good values 6 months to a year ago but are a bit over the top right now. But since the slow season has now started, maybe they will get more reasonable. But come and look around. No one else has your exact tastes!

Cheers

Strooby

try sugar homes on 3rd road it has everything you asked for apart from the in-room safe it does have the safety deposit boxes at front desk. i stayed there for a month and i rented a bike for the duration there are bike taxis out front or if you walk up to the main road you should easily be able to jump on a baht bus. i was charged 8,000 baht a month plus bills and a deposit of 6000 baht.

You can find studio apartments w/ A/C and fridge for about 4k-Bt/mo, plus pay for water and electric.

Suggest forget ADSL in room, as a land line phone is required and will add to your expense. There are _many_ Internet shops offering ADSL service quite inexpensively.

If you be here for at _least_ a few months, consider staying at a hotel for a few days and spend some time looking around and inspect some of the places offering accomodations in the area you prefer. Such is the best way to find decent accomodations that satisfy your requirements and offer some value for your Baht.

I reside in a nice 95sqM, 2-bdrm/2-bath condo which came with a land-line for a mere 8k-Bt/mo. It pays to ask and shop around!!

If you never been to Thailand, or Pattaya, how can you give advice in the expats section? Expats are people that permanently live there.

I am a part year resident, over 6 to 8 months out of a year.
