I am very interested in working in Thailand and spending a lot of time there. I have visited it four times. I know most of the Teaching English angles, but I am interested in an engineering job. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a MS in Math and lots of experience over the years. Anybody got any leads or solid information?

Thanks

I worked in Thailand for a Thai company back in 1974 as a microwave telecommunications engineer. I got the job because they were the local sales rep for a California company that I worked for for 7 years. My advice is to try and work a similar angle, if you have experience with a stateside company that does business in Thailand. If not, find a company that does, send them a letter/resume saying that you are interested in working for them in Thailand. I don't advise teaching Enlish as a way to make money---I doubt you can make enough to survive. If all else fails, go home, work like heck, and pay your dues like most of us. You can always come here on vacation.

I am a Manufacturing Engineer with a Six Sigma Black Belt. Never takes me more than a couple weeks to find a new job in Thailand. You have to know the right people. I have worked for 4 different companies in Thailand the past 6 years. I just started a new job this week. Took me a whole week to find it. It also helps if you can speak Thai.
