Hi everyone,

I'll be in Pattaya in Dec. picking up a car at BKK and driving down. I will, therefore, have wheels to get outside Pattaya during the day to hopefully visit any local zoos, wildlife parks, nature reserves, national parks etc. I'm particularly fond of snakes.

In the past I've been to the Tiger Farm but that's about it.

Any suggestions for any nature related things to see or do within a hour or two of Pattaya would be much appreciated.

Cheers, :D

GR.

I rented a motor bike in Pattaya during my first visit and found it very stressful with all the traffic and seeming lack of rules. I give credit to you for having the courage to drive. However, why not just take "tours" as offered from just about everywhere? Is there a real advantage to renting a car in Pattaya? ;)

Sriracha Tiger Zoo = 30 minutes from Pattaya right off Motorway.

Koaw Keo Open Zoo = 40 minutes from Pattaya right off Motorway. Night Safari offered.

Nong Nooch Gardens = 1 hour from Pattaya near Sattahip

Thanks all for the suggestions, I'll look them up.

I'm picking up and dropping the car at the airport so I don't need two taxis. I did the same in Phuket last year and enjoyed exploring the countryside so I plan to do more of the same. Explore by day and Singha and fun by night

For your information my trip will be 6 nights Pattaya, 5 nights Myanmar then 5 nights Bangkok (Xmas in Cowboy). :sh

Further inquery:

Are there any small parks or nice places to just go lie in the grass, be around trees, etc. I am a bit of a nature lover- doesn't have to be a whole reserve- just a nice little earthy place to hang?

thanks

After living here for 3 yrs i find thats the only thing pattaya is missing,,a park with swings slippery dips, duck ponds, somewhere to ride the bike..etc,etc.

its been devoped for a transet population,

you have bali hai peer[a small park] or the park on budda hill used for excersice,

everyone wants to make money on there land, rightly so,

on the other side i would not like to be hanging aroung parks after dark around here.

glyn,

try taking it out of pattaya. Take one of the BG from khorat with you and go up to Khao Yai. Stay overnight 1 or 2 days there and take in khorat. You will have a great time. :beer :beer
