Bangkok Hotel

Arriving to Bankgok airport on October 4th around 11:00pm and looking for a recommendation for a hotel for the night. I'll be leaving for Pattaya the next day. Would like to stay here the night before I come back to the states as well. Any ideas? Nothing fancy, guest friendly would be a plus, as well a being close to some nightlife.

I agree to skip Bangkok and go to Pattaya directly, but you probably will arrive about 02:00. The last time I arrived about this time, it took about 1.5 hours to get through customs and immigration.

 

Make sure that you book a pickup car in advance - Do not trust the touts at the airport, as most simply turn you over to a cab that does not know Pattaya and will get lost trying to find your hotel. One time, it took me over 3 hours doing this...

I would not stay one night in BKK and then down to Pattaya. Either plan on staying a couple of nights and enjoy yourself there or not at all. I know after that long of a flight you may not want to spend another couple of hours getting down to Pattaya, so I understand. But there are a few boardies that can put you on to a good taxi situation, and I think you'll find it easier to take a nap going down to Pattaya. It won't be so bad. Plus, when it comes to leaving, I have done both. I have left from Pattaya directly to airport and gone back to BKK for the last night. On my next trip, I will be leaving straight away from Pattaya. And I prefer to leave from Pattaya now. Again, it's not as bad as it sounds travel wise. And you don't have to waste time packing and changing hotels. Your stuff ends up packed for over two days now, or you unpack and pack again early in the morning. Just leave straight away from Pattaya to airport.

Personally, I would spend my first two night in BKK and the rest of the time in Pattaya till the ride to airport. And I still recommend Grand President's Opal studio, they have a deal for two nights and airport pick up for 4900b. It's got a good location, you can stay cheaper else where, but you get what you pay for and your on Holiday.
