Looking for house to rent

I just posted this in the Members Bar, but this is probably a better place to ask:

 

I'm looking for a 3 bedroom house to rent, for a minimum of 12 months, commencing October or November.

 

Would prefer a quiet area anywhere around Naklua/Pattaya/Jomtien for 10,000-15,000 baht/month furnished or unfurnished.

 

If any of you blokes know of anything or can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

 

I'll be in Pattaya from 2nd October looking for a place.

Real estate agencies seem to be working exclusively in the upper range and hardly offer anything under 25.000 Bt/month.

Best option is to read local newspapers (classifieds) and when you will be there, just drive around and see what is being advertised directly on the properties.

Nonsense. Get on a bike or in a car and drive around. I live in a 4 bedroom, 3 bath house - huge - in a very quiet neighborhood - my neighbor is one of the richest laywers/mafia in Pattaya - it's very quiet.

 

15k a month.

As someone says there are loads of houses with 'for rent' signs about.

A lot of people are sitting on houses as they expect prices to go up when then new airport opens. They like to rent to farangs too, they can ask more for rent!

My neighbour just moved out and the house is up for rent, furnished at about 12k. There are 3 bedrooms but one is in the roof and hot! Also quite a few in the street here on the East side of Sukhumvit. You need to be here to search around.

 

If you like to keep dogs don't call me! Otherwise send me a PM and I will give details.

If you go via an agent the price will be much higher.

A lot of the supermarkets (Foodland, Friendship etc) have notice boards outside and they normally have houses for rent/sale on them. This is how we found the house that we finally bought.

I didn't rent the house. My wife rented it. I wasn't involved until we moved in.

 

The owner is a retired police official from Nong Khai - he wanted 20,000 baht. This house sat empty for 1 year. She got him down to 15k with the your from Nong Khai and I'm from Nong Khai give me a deal.

 

The house next to me was empty the day I moved into this one - the people moved out. The owners want 20,000 baht for the house. People look, but don't take it. In my quiet neighborhood there must be 20 houses for rent. Some want ridiculous sums.

 

My wife tells me that the people next door won't rent for less than 20,000 baht. Ok, I explain to her if it sits empty for any longer then they've already lost their money as they might as well have let it go 2 months ago for 15k.

There are too many houses for rent. More houses than there are people to rent them.

It really depends upon your transport arrangements. If you are prepared to use your own transport, then you can get a lot for your buck. If you want to live in the centre or near central Pattaya, then you will have to pay more. Even then, something like hiring a car for a month is a good option to drive around and see what is available.

 

As you say Pattaya/Jomtien/Naklua, do you really know any of these areas to commit to a year ?
