Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

I was wondering how you ran the query. I belong also to a pretty active side call pattayatalk.com. Wondering why it isn't even listed?

Ben refers to a post on www.koratfarang.com where a post from another forum was copied to. I think they neither can answer your question nor will give you the link of the original location of the popularity chart with all explanations and links to the sources (queries).

Have a look here for the thread with the data of english forums:

http://www.korat-info.com/forum/viewtopic....asc&start=0

and a general discussion of "site rank"

http://www.korat-info.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=155

Please ask any questions still ncessary on that forum. We'd also be glad to get more links to include.

Cheers,

Welcome to the board. Neat link amd I was able to pick out the info for PattayaTalk

The page views really spiked during SBs "Last Nighy's Love" series of reports. :allright Again when the visa rules were announced and lastly during the initial stages of the coup.

Actually these statistics are next to useless. They rely on people installing their spam ridden, resouce wasting toolbars to gather information. What you get is a statistical picture of how many people are stupid enough to waste their own bandwidth sending information back to them. They then use this info to prepare more spam and slow the internet down even further.

Here's the alexa graph for pattayatalk.com

alexa.jpg

and a real graph of traffic to the site in September taken from the server

plesk.jpg

see any similarity?

The second graph is the actual hit count taken by the server as it serves out the pages. It is 100% accurate. The alexa graph is a count of alexa users visiting the pages and then extrapolated across the entire world. It is absolute nonsense.

Remember there are lies, damn lies and statistics.

PattayaPete is quite right. Alexa is a complete waste of time if you are looking for true stat's on a particular site.

It basically has two areas where is can be "useful" though these are for webmasters not "the public".

1. It can give a very rough rule of thumb guide to a webmaster consider linkback. If a site is top 100,000 then it could be considered worthwhile.

2. From a marketing angle - webmasters can make "capital" from Alexas figures, but only really on people who don't know they are actually pretty useless. For example they can say "my site must be absolutely fantastic because it has an Alexa ranking of 5000 etc" - sounds great but actually means very little.

Even these can be twisted because if a webmaster is working on his site all day long and has the Alexa toolbar installed then the extrapolation can grossly infate the "popularity" figures - i.e. he might be the ONLY visitor but the rankings might show several thousands of "assumed" visitors.

Bottom line - don't pay any attention if someone quotes Alexa figures at you, they are probably distorted or at worst artificially inflated.

I almost fully agree. That's why for the mentioned popularity chart also the Netcraft Figures are used. They're not more reliable than Alexa. But if they're fairly in agreement . . .there is some indication, just some!

The big problem is, what is reliable? People showing you a copy they allege would represent their webstats?

Neither!!! :D
