FLIGHTS FROM UK TO BKK

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I want to travel direct from LHR to BKK end of Mar 07. Prices still seem very high but I hope the prices will fall come Jan 07 when Thai airways renew contracts with UK operators. The girl in Trailfinders told me this but could/would not tell me more. Can anyone tell me what she meant??

When is the best time to book flights? 5 months before, 3 months before or 1 month before???

Thanks in advance.

I think your problem with trying to get a cheap fare for the end of March will be the easter period 6th-9th April. Most airlines increase fares for flights 14 days either side of Easter ! Having booked many flights via the internet i would recommend daily viewing of the usual consolidators websites between 8 to 4 weeks prior to your intented departure.

For at least the last 3 years Thai and BA/QANTAS

have brought prices down in the 2nd week of jan.

I am waiting until then to book my next flights for the

end of january and may.

Paid £420inc taxes last year with Thai.

If you go back to the january posts in this section

of the forum you can see what the deals were then.

However there can be no guarantee that those prices

will be repeated.

Good luck.

In the Times yesterday, Phuket £99 return, must fly out November 13 th for 7 or 14 days.

I think this must be a charter flight, and probably quiet until Christmas.

You could then arrange flight from Phuket to Pats or BKK.

I guess Thomson or similar have Phuket hols.

Thai's prices last January were in direct response to EVA increasing capacity on the London route when they went daily with their 777s the previous Sep/Oct. Prices have remained flat since due largely to the mid-east airlines, in particular Etihad, offering competitive products at bargain prices and providing the northern based guys with a decent alternative to flying via Heathrow. That situation isn't likely to change too much in the foreseeable future unless Thai starts up its often promised Manchester route with the new 777s it is currently receiving.

I am the sort of person that buys flights immediately I get the whim...I wouldn't dare wait too long for something so important. I have already booked and paid for my sons and Mother to fly to LOS Easter / Songkran next year. I have got caught in the past and ended up paying through the nose with KLM.

Monitor seat availability using www.amadeus.net regularly.
