Expats with serious business trouble.

I won't describe the full details cause I would prefer to ask the guy first.

He has described his predicament on his web site for all to see.

There maybe talk of this on other sites, don't know

 

But senerio is: he had a shop in Bkk, one of his Thai employees stole business and money from him, he sacked him and because this guy ripped off others, thais included, this spiralled into a gang of thai men coming to the shop and taking his and customers stock.

Going thru his house threatening his wife and family.

Very ugly

Sad tale, take note all. On the web site notice how many Thai employees he had and how many he had to fire for stealing. This is a high percentage. A friend of mine who owned a bar had similar results with the sweet girls he employed as cashiers. It's an ugly thing to condemn a whole nationality based on the actions of 'few', but a healthy dose of distrust might be a good thing!

If you deal in stolen goods you have to expect some come backs. Nearly all "big bikes" In Thailand are stolen from Japan then brought here with the numbers taken off then restamped and registered.

 

I would not feel too sorry for this guy.

I read it all and I believe the guy. I'm not too sure if the all the motors were dodgy or anything. I still think the police/thugs should be held accountable. This sort of shit is a big thumbs down for Thailand.

This is just another example of how the playing field here in the Kingdom damn sure isn't level. Some farangs beat the odds for years and a few for a shorter period. Just when they think things are finally going well they get the rug pulled out from under them.

 

I would never encourage anyone to go into business here. Spend your money and enjoy your life. If you are too young and/or poor to be able to afford to live here without working, NEVER think you can start a successful small business. Stay in your own country and earn and save as much money as possible. Many have tried and very few have succeeded in having a profitable business especially when having Thai partners is necessary.

Yes my friend bought a bike from there and it was a stolen bike that was restamped. Nearly all big bikes in Thailand are stolen unless you by from a dealer and pay an absolute fortune for one.

You are very wrong about this . I an my associates have imported 367 bikes from Japan and 48 from USA over the last 6 years , all were bought at Legitimate auctions , mostly Harleys , Buells, Fireblade, Ducatis, BMW, GSXRs,R1, R6 etc all inspected by Japanese and US customs prior to export , none were stolen, here is a small percentage of stolen bikes that have entered Thailand , but the Japanese police own investigations show that most Stolen Japanese bikes end up in the middle East or broken up for spare parts.

Most stolen Japanese cars end up in Africa and Middleast but last year large quantities of stolen Japanese cars and bikes appeared in the British market.

 

Registering legally imported big bikes in Thailand is a big paperchase and expensive hassle, but can be done .

 

Bikes have to be dismantled by us prior to importing to Thailand and reassembled here to attract lower import duties,

 

And Peter from Siam Superbike had access to the legal bikes wholesale market here, he never knowingly bought anything dodgy.The same scam that was perpetrated on him was also done to a Big Pattaya Bike shop last year.

Amen....Peter is a very upright guy who dealt honestly and fairly with his customers.

It the Thai (Jum) that created the problem...for the clients, Peter & his family.

 

It's sad to read posts from those that didn't know him, are uninformed and LEAP to conclusions.

But such posts speak volumes of the character of the poster.....
