The property brings in these days....over 50years later...Euro 37000 a year!!!!

  15. I stayed there in March this year, A great location, Staff and hosts ...most helpful The room was clean, The inclusive breakfast makes it a good deal You can use RG pool...around the corner for 100 bath for the day But good locations can have their drawbacks..... Noise....Kevin says he is getting new glazing....when that happens I will be back

  19. I have also spoken to Dr.Aree about her hours....she hasnt the time for another clinic. Aside....she rang me last Christmas morning ...said she had a cancelled appointment at 6pm...would I like to come in. I said ..but its Christmas day and I wanted to eat Christmas dinner with some friends. She says....but its Monday... !!!! I am very happy with her work....her singing...and massage.....hehe did ask her out....then next visit she introduced me to her very nice Thai husband.
  20. Friend of mine has a house on "the Dark Side" for 14000 Baht a month for a 2 bedroom.....he says he could have got another across the road cheaper.... Lord Flash is in the business...why not contact him for a bit of advice.... Im sure if you bought him a few drinks he would give you unbiased advice.... You have to remember that opinions are like assholes....everybody has one.. At the end of the day...your opinion is the one that counts
  21. Yes i would like to agree with Owen on his perspective on ...retirement. I am a "former" antiques dealer.... I sold up shop and am still selling the remaining contents..... I still get called to do valuations...write a few pieces for the local papers ....bits and pieces..not enough to keep me going full time. I thought that in Thailand I might find "real" antiques .... maybe find the things I used to specialize in...Chinese and Japanese works of art.... Not to be.... Trawling through the amount of "Reproductions" and "Fakes" in LOS has yeilded ...nothing ...nada.... I have enough income from investments to retire in LOS....I am 56.... But ...I am afraid to make the move .... I cannot imagine my self not having an occupation...one that I enjoyed So of all the reasons not to move...that IS my major one, As for the money side of retirement in LOS...the Thai Goverment says you need a minimum of 65000 baht a month for a single man.... 40000 baht if you are married to a Thai !!!!! Personally I would double that figure on both counts...and live reasonable well.
  22. Correct when it comes to Ireland.. The weather The food The islands The "take care" ect....etc

    UK Tax Laws

Great information Alan....thank you, Did not know that legal savings outside the EU could be tax free, What about the money coming into Thailand if earned outside the country.... Any tax liability....? Has made me think of rearranging my finances completely, We pay a lot tax here in Ireland....and after my last fiasco with the Revenue... (They won... now compleatly tax complient...) Without the tax burden I could "retire" a lot earlier...:)
  24. Alan, very good advice there.....something that could easily overlooked Good Stuff
