    Cost of Living

    just looking through it...what would you say...10 % more today...in Baht ?
  4. Went to your bar in March ...Hammers bar crawl. I was impressed with all the bars we went to on the "dark side" Great attitude from the ladies....and great fun too Will be spending time there next trip
  5. Teacher....20 years experience....30,000 baht a month Has a good middle class existence... house ,car and bringing up her son who is in college studying engineering. For retirement visa (o)...farang alone...must prove he is receipt of 65000 baht a month. With Thai wife ...40000 a month...2 live cheaper than 1..hehe
  6. Gary, Thank you, as always, for your valuable contribution Good Stuff
  7. Keep them coming...cos I aint getting the figures you guys are talking about Over in Sept with Thai air...London....700 and odd...looking at Christmas....880 Sterling...want a trip before then...
  8. So Thailand with 64 million people get 15 million tourists, Here in Ireland we have a population of 4 million and we get 9 million tourists, I think its the quality of the tourists that the Thai Goverment have a problem with... Dont blame them as there are a lot of undesireable people creeping in to LOS. They dont want to be like Southern Spain..
  9. You are best with someone that has a good perspective on Pattaya As has been mentioned before Lord Flash ie :Adam...has a good knowledge of Pattaya. He is also one that when he doesnt know the answer...says he doesnt know!!!! Unlike the Thais that want to please .... save face .
  10. I think you have got a lot of good advice here This tread also applys to me...so very interested in the knowledge from the BMs I thought of 100000 Baht per month would be OK...however it really depends on your lifestyle, 50000Baht per month would get you a good lifestyle in the North of Thailand But not in the south...Pattaya...too many temptations....??? Cutting off your ties with home country straight away is not a good idea I think a 5 year plan as suggested is a good idea Good luck which ever way you go
  11. I have used Mr Toom on a number of occasions in the past 12 months Have found his service and price excellent. I hope to use Mr Toom next Saturday and will count on it !!!! However will keep your recomendation...just in case...TIT....
  12. Will back up WeezinGeezer Dr. Aree is an excellent dentist....I had a lot of work over the Christmas period....13 hours 2 caps...a major bridge and muti fillings...with a lot of previous work redone. done over a 3 week period Cost was roughly 1/3 what it would cost in Ireland.... remember we are the most expensive place to live in Europe !!!!! She was easily the best dentist I have been ever with
  13. Booked 3 weeks ago for end of March with Thai and got £509 all in ...direct ...westeast travel

    house plans

Most of the stuff you can access through Google Thai house plans is a good site...however plenty of others Please keep us posted as very interested myself. Hey Bullfrog, A good lady friend of mine has a house outside Khampheangphet and was talking to her today... Closed the house down 8 years ago She says that their are some good old ruins of wats there, (Stuff I like) that she wants to show me Sounds like I might like the place if there are a few BMs there as well !!
  15. Adam...that sounds kindda cheap.. 25000 Euros Prices for decent pad there seem to be several millions in Baht Was I getting info wrong???
  16. Dennis tried your place for next month....booked out... Staying around the corner However as Im arriving on Paddys day I will have to drop in for a drink!!!
  17. There are quite a few BM s that have bought condos in their own name...however not many (without a thai wife ) have bought houses in their own name. My advice would be to find an independant solictor..lawyer...then look at the options Just make sure the lawyer is independant...you can source that from your own lawyer back home. I will not recommend any estate agents in Pattaya cos I have never had any experience with buying in Thailand.....nearly bought a hotel in Sumui (Lamai) about 7 years ago Lord Flash is probebly a good starting point...he speaks English!!....however remember : FIND A GOOD LAWYER FIRST they will save you in the long run Good luck in your quest and will check up with you at a later date to see how you get on.
  18. Just checked Eva ...yeah 470 + makes 606 ....Lowest I can get at the moment is thos cook 513 all in
  19. Dr Aree will give you 3 different quotes...amount of gold in the crown starts at 7000 baht I had 2 crowns ...9 fillings ..some very large and a bridge ( 4 teeth )cleaning and X Rays...the lot Euro 2100 The best dentist I have ever been to....would highly recommend her This is in the last month
  20. Owen having read your posts over a number of months...I think a lot of people would take....and pay ....for some of your finace wisdom I am a retired antiques dealer.....retired due to changing fashions As a consultant I make a few bob ... If I were to leave Ireland and live in Thailand ... I really dont think I could persue my Antique career there ...and it does concern me not having a purpose to getting up in the morning. Bored as shit here in Ireland....may as well be bored in sunshine where people smile... One life and all of that...
  21. Good report Casper....so ya got there before me What were the costs involved?
  22. really sorry to have missed that one....wow what a blast
  23. Thanks for the rundown...only been to Lolitas and the bar across the street from it in Sept Walking Street sure gets very crowded so LK might be just that little bit easier to get about. Will visit your bar when Im over next week
  24. Hard Rock must be the worst...sent Texas chicken back because it was still frozen in the middle...the chips were made from cardboard and the wine was bitter... I have not found a great restaraunt here in the 30 days I have spent in Pattaya this year ( 3 trips ) however I have found a great many that are "just OK" I eat out here in Ireland at least twice a week and have not sent anything back in about 2 years...not everything is perfect but presentable and well cooked. I cook at least twice a week in Pattaya when I'm there...unfortunate thing is no oven in my apartment. The ladies think i am mad when I say ...out for shopping and I go to vegetable market or up to Big C for the supermarket. One thing I have not found is a good BG that cooks...a big turn on for me is a lady that is a very good cook!!! Each to there own I guess
  25. From Porns party last year .....9th Dec 2005
