Anyone stay at the Royal Orchid Resort before?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was thinking of booking an online trip to Pattaya in March 2007- at the Royal Orchid Resort. Has anyone ever stayed here before? The website pics look good, and the deal I got online was $1500 for 3 weeks with air. It's located on the North side, near the Dolphins.

-Can anyone here recommend any good gyms near that specific hotel? I'm a newbie gym-rat, and would like to keep progressing while I'm on vacation there.

-What good restaurants can anyone recommend in that general area?

-How far away from the nightlife is the Royal Orchid?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Yes-

the RO is quite far from the action, and it is geared more towards families and couples. Joiner fee? That's strike 3 I'm afraid...

Can anyone recommend a good hotel closer to the action? What's a good centrally located place? I'm not looking for a 4 star luxury hotel, but I don't want to stay in a cockroach-infested dump either! LOL Thanks for all the help bros!

With enough board members staying at the Metropole, it is not the place to bring a family, in my opinion with the revolving door with bar girls going in and out.

Pick a hotel either at Jomtien or Naklua with the beach area close by or beachfront. Away from the bars and gogos but close enough by baht bus.

I didn't see anyone sya anything about family. If i was bringing family and not mongering I would use a discount reservation website and book either A-1 hotel. Montien, or siam bayshore. Montien and Siam are not girl friendly. I don't knoe about A-1. All are reasonably near the action although at various points. All have decent rooms Montien's is a little older but still nice with nice beds. Siam bayshore is nice with nice beds. Montien has a great gym- good variety of equipment, A-1 has fantastic gym (eliptical trainers, treadmills, concept III rowing machines, free weights, and universal weights, steam room, very modern) but you have to pay 250 baht if your are a guest or 500 baht of you are not staying there. siam bayshores gym is pretty lame but siam does have several nice tennis courts and some great restuarants. all of them have good pools.

cons- siam and montien are not girl friendly A-1 is always full of busloads (literally) of chinese tourists of packed discount tours. :banghead

all can be had for around 2000 - 2500 baht through discount travel agencies/ I stayed ay siam bayshore this last august thru latestays.com and paid 1900 or 2000 baht a night.
