Booked into Bay Breeze hotel for December as my usuals on soi 7/8 fully booked, also booked a room for a friend travelling with me. After a few days there my friend tells me that some items dissappeared from his room while we were out for the evening, but no sign of a break-in. His TG's mobile which they left to charge, also his Ben Sherman jacket (not a Thai copy) and a pack of Viagra! So I check through my room, no sign of a break-in but my UK mobile is gone. The hotel receptionist didn't seem at all surprised (regular occurrence?) and the manager couldn't have cared less, even insinuating that my mate's TG may have been the culprit -`I don't know but I think she work bar, she no leave phone in room she need talk to customer. Thief steal coat ting tong'. I checked out. While looking for another room, staff in a couple of nearby hotels told me that it was thought that one of the staff at Bay Breezehad given room keys to their boyfriend to cut copies. As the hotel has virtually no security, it all added up. I certainly wouldn't want to leave valuables in their front desk safe boxes either, just as vulnerable as a locked room.

We did make a report to the Police, but I don't know if they followed it up. However I thought that the best way to stop other BM's from being robbed at the Bay Breeze was to post on this Forum.

Thanks for the info. :clap1

I have stayed Baybreeze a few times with no problems, I have a big room which has a room safe, although i do not use it.

The oldish security guy who works nights is usually on the ball, he even does fire-watch patrols.

It's not a bad thing to leave 20 baht on the pillow in a morning, I look upon it as a kind of insurance. :clap1

You might consider adding a review to the Hotel Review section (click on HOTELS on the top of this page). Click on Bay Breeze here to get to the review for that hotel.

It would be hard to find any hotel that has not had some guests property stolen. thats why they have safety boxes :thumbup so people dont get tempted by someone leaving valuables in their rooms when they go out.of course this may have been a case of duplicate keys by someone from outside the hotel.

**scratches Bay Breeze Hotel from list of places to stay**

Although I think theft can happen anywhere in LOS, it's that "couldn't care less" attitude from the management that drives me insane. I had my room robbed in View Talay and the office staff there wouldn't even let me use the phone (mine had been stolen) and got angry at me when I asked them at least to call Fairview Properties for me. :clueless

I won't be renting there again any time soon either. Thanks for the heads up about Bay Breeze.

Thanks for that Gus, I just knew someone would reply to say they had stayed there and not been robbed! As for the `security' guy, he does fire-watch patrols on a concrete building with integrated fire alarm system, but NEVER checks any ID, yes he's on the ball. It occurred to me that he might be the lookout for the robbing bastards. 20 baht per day as a kind of insurance sounds like one of those scams June Whitfield advertises.

Thanks bigfoot I understand about the safe boxes but mine was already full with wallet/passport/ camera/house keys etc, the safe boxes are small. As you imply, I may be guilty of tempting people by leaving valuables in my room while I'm out. But let's put things into context; the poor bastards had to let themselves into my room with no sign of forced entry, during late evening/night time, then open my hand luggage and rifle through it before finally being tempted because of my callous thoughtlessness. I almost feel sorry for them. Yes bigfoot I think someone has duplicate keys which is why I didn't want to leave the remainder of my valuables conveniently together in their safe box, and checked out.
