New PC, Win XP Home, IE7

I have tried to put it in the header.

Sometimes on start up my icons do not appear on the desktop, any tips?

It usually means I have to switch the power off then back on again.

TIA

Well the only thing I can think of is you have deselected the 'show desktop' items option. Right click on desk top.......arrange icons by.....show desktop icons.

But I imagine you have already checked that.........so I just don't know

You could do a system restore back to the date you first bought the PC? That might help?

Ben, yes thats ticked.

I have just ticked "lock icons on desktop," we'll see what that does.

I am not too PC literate, but it's all good fun

One more thought. Some of your 'desktop items' may not yet have permanent short cuts created onto the desktop. So you could do that manually.

So click start......right click internet explorer........send to.........create desktop shortcut

Same with any other program you wish to display on desktop, which is not yet displayed.

If it's a brand new PC..........you won't have much on the desktop to start with.
