I would say buying it in Pattaya would be cheaper, try Massic Travel on 2nd Road about 1km before you get to Big C festival, on the right, by Grand Soliel Hotel, coming from Pattaya, go to www.pattayamail.com there will be a button for them there somewhere, but try and book in advance going in at short notice is unlikely to produce good value.

The problem is, there are no hard and fast best things to do, in general you need time on your side to get best deal at least not to get too close to your date, I think trying to change your original ticket is a good suggestion, if you cannot, try an get a price in UK , if all silly money buy a phone card from any news agent and phone Massic travel for 1or 2p a minute, the guys in there are Indian and speak good english, and make a deal. It is a proper business and will not rip you off.

Nobody knows what the actual price is going to be til they are sat in front of the airline booking screen, practically no offer includes all the extras and practically none are for one way travel.

One last thought, the reason one recommends buying tickets out of Uk is that they not usually as restrictive as those issued in UK, it is possible that even if in the UK the airline won't change your return date it is possible that the office out here might ,even if they charge GBP100 it will still be cheaper than buying a one way, so that is another gamble you could take. :thumbup

thanks for the replies guys. i rang the company who i booked with which is dial a flight which is based in the uk were i am now. he said there were seats on the planes but not at the price that i paid he said he could only change my flight with 1 that costs the same as mine. he said that there were loads of seats in economy but because i got a good price he could only offer me a seat for the price that i paid. but all those seats on all the panes were gone rite up to my original return date which was the 3rd of may. so from the 13 april till 3rd of may he said he carnt get me on a flight even though there are seats. i think this is bull shit and he wanted me just to book another seperate flight home which he tried to sell me after he said he couldnt get me on a flight . so guys do you think i should ring emirates when im out there? and see if thery will change it ? or was it them i should of rang in the first place to change my flight and not dial a flight? thanks for the help guys

unziped,

What you need to do is contact Emirates in BKK after you have made the outward journey from Manchester. Many of the available seats will currently only be showing in the more expensive (less restricted) classes because of the proximity of the Easter holidays. Some of those seats will be available in the more restricted classes as the computers yield management systems kick in over the next few weeks. From memory, the cost to change a return EK flight after outbound travel ranges from 0-200 USD depending on the booked class of the original ticket.

If you phone them to make the change make sure you make a note of the date/time and reservation agent's name.

The following day you should be able to check that the booking has been changed on Amadeus.

I have just booked a flight home for the wife on the same flight as me on Qatar Airlines.......I rang the airline and a few travel agents in pattaya....and the price was the same.......so much for booking in Pattaya.......I think it all depends on how many seats left on the plane...i.e. cheap seats gone.

Her flight was 390 quid........early may......and the airline have held it for me until i get there...pay at BKK airport....Thats because I have a flight on the same aircraft and am a member of the travel club.

Hope this helps.
