I am flying to Thailand around the first of July. Work will be paying for the one way ticket. I usually fly NW (Not to Thailand), but they are asking 1900. I want the miles, so it is Delta of Korean.

Having never flown either, could anybody give me an idea about which would be better in economy. Does either have in-seat TV's? Reclining seats?

It's not that hard to beat NW, as they have neither.

This brings up another question. Can I fly into Thailand without an onward ticket? I will be leaving for Myanmar around the end of the month and had just planned a purchasing a ticket in Thailand.

Thanks for any advice

First, your Delta flight is probably a codeshare on either Korean or China Airlines. I've flown both, but since your question is about Korean Air I'll just cover that one.

Korean Air is, from my experience, outstanding. Admittedly I've been in biz class each time with them so the amenities are better than coach, but from what I saw of the coach cabin (and the FA's!

This is known as code-sharing. Two airlines share the proceeds, but just one of them flies. I flew this a couple of years ago, Delta to Japan from the US as it happened. They had in-seat TV on that flight.

Technically no, probably yes. By law you have to have an onward ticket, but the law also provides that if you have the means for a ticket they can let you go - a credit card should suffice.

In practice, people are very, very seldom asked for that onward ticket anyhow.

As always, if you pixx off the individual immigration guy, all bets are off.

Recent reports would indicate that the Thai regulation requiring you show a onward ticket when you enter the country, is being enforced.

While Delta maintains an office in BKK, they haven't flown their own metal into Thailand in several years. I bought a ticket on Delta a couple of years ago and ended up using 4 different airlines to make the round trip. Korean Air to Seoul and Asiana to BKK. Returning it was EVA from BKK to Tapei and China Air to SFO.

I liked Korean Air. Their Boeing 777-200s are very comfortable.

E Ticket or receipt is needed upon arrival in Thailand now. When I arrived two weeks ago immigration had a sign up asking for passport and your receipt or e ticket for return. I did not have that and had to go to see the supervisor to get it straigtened out. Quite a few other people in the same situation.

I flew cattle class on Korean Air to BKK twice last year out of ORD.

Good planes and good food for the most part. Better than any US carrier IMO.

I had an unfortunate incident with them but in retrospect it probably was unavoidable and no one's fault.

If I couldn't fly Cathay Pac or EVA I'd fly with them again.

------------

They DIDN'T ask me for proof of a return/forward flight on May 8th when I entered LOS but things change quickly sometimes.

I had it ready for them anyway.

Thanks.

I believe I will give Korean a shot and pack some snacks. Not sure if I like Kimchee?

I belive i will just try to get through without an onward ticket, and by one to my final destination, Myanmar, if it becomes a problem.
