Hello pattaya gurus!

Newbie poster here. I'm a dance instructor from Australia

I'm looking for budget accomodation in Pattaya. I'd like something:

1. less than 600bt a night. Will go over a little bit if neccessary

2. somewhat close to the action. I'm young and fit and I can walk a bit. anywhere between north and south pattaya road, and east of third road is all right.

3. no amenities wanted. just want a nice room that's comfortable. As large and good condition as I can get for the price.

4. girl friendly

5. friendly staff are a bonus

6. short stay. 5 or 6 days.

Could you guys please offer me some recommendations based on the criteria I've given? I'm adventurous and I don't mind trying a new, relatively unkown hotel. I've tried to do my own research, I really have. But some of the stuff is hopelessly outdated. Wikitravel gave Apex, LKMetro Apartments... some1 else suggested Honey Inn, and Bay Breeze, and Flipper... but I'm just getting more and more confused :-(

Also, is it worth getting a reservation? Either officially (through an internet agent) or just call up the hotel and tell them I want a room? Or just walk in when I get there and ask for a room?

Thanks so much for the help!

Hi! if 600bht is your price then i would just turn up in Pattaya and go look at the rooms yourself. There are plenty of Guest houses and old hotels you will be able to walk into and get a room. If you want to book then i would go for the Queen Vic on Soi 6, proberly one of the cleanest and nicest places ive stayed for that price. But really you will have no problem getting a room for that money, even in high season. Its normally the higher priced rooms that tend to become more scarce and therefore i would book a few weeks before arrival. Good luck

In order to avoid the flesh-eating carnivores, I'm PMd you a few suggestions in your price range. Enjoy your trip!

updated: I see you can not accept PMs yet. so here you go:

I know of 2 . The metro apartments

Metro apartments

and The Skytop

Skytop Hotel

Metro is on Soi Diana (right next to the Areca Lodge). Between Walking Street and Soi 2. Great spot with everything you can want. Gogo, Lolitas, 7-11, pharmacy, internet, bike rental, etc... Right next to Mikes Shopping mall. In my opionion, the BEST central location ever!!

Skytop is another great location hotel closer to SOI 6.

Both rooms have fridge, in-room safe, AC. Price is under 600 baht per night. Check them out and enjoy your trip!!

Check out www.skytopcenterpattaya.com Excellent location on 2nd Road two minutes away from soi 6 and one block from the beach. Meets your criteria for price and it offers in room safe, AC, fridge, cable TV and it's clean. High speed internet downstairs. Friendly staff and owner. I stay there when I come to Pattaya. Excellent value for the money. Matter of fact I'll be there starting next week for a three week stay. :finger

For that price range with an excellent location....

One Idea would be Honey Lodge ... South Pattaya Road

It even has a pool! They have a safe in the lobby. Rooms are smaller so it may not work out.

Location... just across from the entrance to Walking Street.... where the road turns sharply left.... stay on the left hand side just past the two restaurants there is an alley.... take a left at the alley and you are there.

It is a 500 thb a night place. Usually you dont need a reservation.

You could just show up there on the first night... then look around to find something different. Remember... this is not a 5 start place so dont expect too much.

There is another place ... Honey Inn that is not too bad for the price.... ask for a room with a balcony. They also have a pool. Honey Lodge and Honey Inn get confused in the Hotel Review Sections.

You may want to just book at Pig & Whistle ... this is also pretty good for the price and in the middle of Soi 7 & 8. They do not have a pool.

Maybe at the 500-600B budget range you really should just show up and take a look yourself, as some of the rooms at this price can be questionable.

Many are okay, but others are downright old and dingy. If old and dingy hotels are okay with you then go to the Apex Hotel (550B I think) on 2nd rd. :) It is a good central location, rooms sort of passable, pool is small but okay, breakfast (not included) buffet good value.

Sky-Top was completely refurbished late last year when Pete the Ozzy owner moved one shop over when he had lease 'problems'. I check in later this week and will give a update on the situation.

Two days till wheels up........................... :bj2 :banana :gulp

you havent actually said when you are travelling, but you could try soi 12 2nd road, thats the soi almost next door to the apex, there are at least 10 guest houses down there, you could try the Dobler house, its about 20 metres down on the left, I stay there and the rooms are very good quality for 450-500 baht a night
