BKK to Saigon - which airline

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks

I am having trouble finding an airline - the low fare kind - that flies Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh (or Saigon).

I have checked the common ones like Air Asia and Jetstar, and they don't have that route.

Anyone know of any airline? Or of a Search Engine that sniffs out low fare Asian airlines?

Any ideas on other forms of transportation will also be appreciated.

Thanks.

Last time I flew from Saigion to Bangkok it was with Air France. They operate several times a week though can't tell you what days. The normally fly Paris>Bangkok>Saigon>Bankok>Paris. The Saigon to Bankok flight that i was on was about half full and was the cheapest I could find. It was about Australian $120 one way and that was a year ago. The other cheapy European airline was Lufthansa.

The only thing I can see, that is even close to reasonable is Air France(AF) from 8275 baht R/T (inclusive) if booked in advance on the Air France or Orbitz pages.

AF164 operates on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: BKK-SGN and returns to BKK on those days as flight AF169.

Currently Thai Airways (with some cheaper Star Alliance code shares) and Vietnam Air also service Ho Chi Minh City non-stop (direct).

You may be able to get a better price by booking with a Thai travel agent(?).

Good Luck!

Thanks guys! Didnt realize there were no low-cost airlines on the route.

What I am considering now - for the excitement value, not just because of cost - is flying to Phnom Penh, and taking the bus to Saigon the same day (6-7 hours, with a-c). What I have to find out now is what time the bus leaves. On the way back I know I will need to spend a night in Phnom Penh, which will be fine.

I took the 07:00 capitol bus to saigon well you transfer at the border to another bus

this bus traveld at 10k an hour from the border to saigon.

Do not believe anybody regarding travel times they may depart

at the given time but the arrival time is anybodys guess.

Beware of vietnam air if they dont have enough passengers they

simply cancel the flight.

So you might need to be in PP the day before and get a ticket

as quick as you can.

Give yourself time do not have a flight that you must catch

you may have some small delays.
