So, in spite of all your long-winded answer, what you are saying is that you have never stayed at the RG (or anywhere else on Thappraya) and are only surmising what you would imagine what it is like to catch a cab from the place or visit the store/laundry opposite. Nothing wrong with that per se but when someone else who has actually stayed there mentions it as a significant issue then I might pay atention. Until then ......... my own experience of staying on Thappraya is that it is of no practical significance.

Attention Tom. Two T's (Tit for Tat). Secondly, your first statement is argumentative as it seeks to minimize the person you are trying to criticize while focusing attention away from the issues or points he's made. Lastly, you have not dealt with these issues or points whatsoever. If this were part of a term paper or a law school brief, I'd have to give you an F double minus. But you are in luck. It's not.

Third road traffic coming into one's route just South of RG can be another choke point.

I could swear that 3rd Rd intersected north of the RG. Crossing any of the roads in Pattaya is not a problem if you have patience are not drunk or blind.

It does indeed.

Unfortunately, I know the square root of nothing about brontosauri except that they didn't populate sandy habitats. Take a C for effort though.

BTW ......... It's "If this was" not "If this were". :banghead

You are 100% correct, Emil. It makes it a piece of cake for the moto-sai guys to circumnavigate any hold-ups at the junction of Thappraya/Pratamnak Roads.

I stayed at RG for 12 days the end of Oct and beginning of Nov and I don't think there is any problem at all crossing the road to the laundry, the massage place or the little family mart. As far as catching a baht bus, I think the longest wait was maybe two minutes. The merging of traffic where the roads converge wasn't a problem in my book, However that might be due to the fact that I live and work in Kuwait, where the drivers are notoriously reckless. (3rd Highest death rate per capita in the world) Anyway, I didn't feel the hassles were out of line and I will probably stay there on my upcoming trip in Feb.....Reggie

No. you are exactly right.

As someone who has stayed at the RG several times and also at Tims Royal Residence (just off Second Road) last month, despite the talk of "choke points"/etc above (?? :banghead

Hub,

I'm sure there is a pedestrian crossing just up from Tim"s on 2nd Rd ............ :banghead

Have to agree with the likes of Cheshire Tom.

Just spent 25 nights in the RG and not once did i have any problems crossing the Road or getting into town.

Yes there is Congestion at the so called Choke point but we are talking about a 100 yard stretch that takes maybe 1-2 minutes at its worst to get through. Baht buses constantly going by so that i doubt very much if i even had to wait as long as 2 minutes for one.

Oh by the way, the Choke point only seems to happen during the Rush hour. The rest of the time its plain sailing all the way through.

What happens when you take a six lane interstate highway in the U.S. and for even the shortest stretch reduce the flow of traffic to merely one lane due to road construction? Does the traffic slow down for just 100 yards or does it back up for miles? Well, if the highway is very busy it's going to back up for miles, and that's a fact. Same same here. There's a lot of traffic going to and from Jomtien, but it's much worse at certain times of the day than it is at other times. There's just one main route to Jomtien in this area and the main choke point consists of a two lane road crossing another two lane road. As busy as Pattaya and Jomtien are getting two lane roads just don't get it and when you have choke points such as this one on the main route there are two ways of dealing with the situation. 1. You can be an ostrich with its head in the sand and ignore your long journeys or 2. Bring a Thai girl along with you and make out with her on the way.

You can keep singing the same song, but as the many many posters here that have stayed at the RG have said, it's a NON ISSUE.

I stayed at the RG maybe 4-5 times and never had an issue or wait that I remember- and that includes both on the baht bus route and when I was driving my own scooter.

I never had a problem either while driving my scooter as I simply zigzagged around the poor guys and gals in their cars and on the baht taxis as they sat there marooned in all that traffic. And zigging and zagging was completely necessary because all those practically immobile vehicles were surely not a product of my imagination., and not once, but many times.
