I stayed at the Blue Moon for 8 days at the beginning of September, whilst waiting for my room to become available at the Metro Apartments. Whilst the Blue Moon is not up to Metro standards, it did prove to be quite adequate for a stop gap measure.

I booked my room via e-mail and Allan the owner was prompt in his response. I stayed in the "Extra Large Double Room with Balcony" which was on the first floor at the front of the building. The room was very spacious, adequately furnished and had a couch, full sized fridge (with mini bar), small table and chairs plus a decent sized office desk and chair, which I found very useful. There was also a small safe in the wardrobe.

The free wi-fi internet was excellent and the TV had sophon cable. The room was clean, serviced daily and sheets changed every 2nd day (I think).

Alan was a likeable guy and his day time lady who did everything from reception, housemaid and laundry worker was very pleasant. There is a small bar downstairs with slate pool table, couches and large TV and there are a few ladies working in the evening.

The bar doesn’t stay open too late and when closed, entry to up-stairs is via a padlocked side gate. Having the laundry is also a bonus as all you have to do is drop it at reception on your way out and often it is ready when you return - reasonably priced as well.

My room rate was 450bt per night, with electricity extra. Alan only charges 5bt per unit and as I don't like sleeping with aircon and found the two wall mounted fans quite adequate, my electricity charge for the 8 days was 285bt.

The only negatives I found, which incidentally would not stop me from staying their again are as follows:

1: The bed was only a double and all my companions commented on "small bed", but at least they couldn't get away from me :-)

2: The mould on the grout between the tiles on the wall beneath the shower could do with a bit of attention.

3: As the front room is directly opposite Murphy’s Law, which is a late night haunt on the soi, Alan did say some guys found the noise a bit much at times, however it didn't particularly worry me, but then again I spent a few early mornings myself their and at least it was only staggering distance back to the room.

4: As the guesthouse is a standard shophouse design, the stairs are quite steep and not suitable for anybody with walking problems.

In conclusion, I would certainly stay their again if the Metro was not available, as I believe it represents excellent value for money, based on facilities and location. Definitely good value for the budget conscious traveller.

Great review, thanks :)

I can not see the TV in your pics. How big is it, and is there a DVD player? Also how is the water pressure?

:thumbup

Top of TV can be seen behind the fridge in the first pic and is around 56cm. No DVD player but the water pressure was very good
