Does it not switch to another network if you switch it on in the uk? Try texting it from a uk phone using 0066 or +66 and missing out the 1st 0.

Ive got a one 2 call thai sim. It still works in the uk. I think its the T mobile network it switches to in the uk. Last time I went to thailand my uk orange phone didnt even work and customer service was completely uninterested. If your sim doesnt work Id recommend the one 2 call network. Hope it works out.

Funny, both my Orange Contract and my Orange pay-as-you-go sims work fine all over Thailand. Orange contract sim shows up on TH True network, not on Thai Orange Network.

Hope this helps.

It always worked on previous trips, but not last time. They said it was because I didnt tell them I was going. I hadnt told them the previous times either :allright And because I couldnt remember a pin number they claimed to have given me ten years previously, they couldnt do anything. You have to change pin in the uk :D . Four months of missed calls. Ive now changed networks in a hissy fit :D Remember to tell them if you are going, even if youve not had to before.

Let me explain again; its an orange sim card from thailand. When I last used it in Thailand it had had 300 bts credit on it. Every time you top up in Thailand the expiry extends and the last time it was topped up the expiry was up to July 07. I will be going next month. Question is will it still work as I have gone pasted the expiry time??

Thanks

I understood perfectly from the 1st post. Was only trying to help by warning you about orange and recommending 1 to call. You dont need to start giving it :banana. I didnt give you " why do you think its called a fucking expiry date " :banghead :banghead :banghead . I dont know if you didnt get many answers because it was a stupid question or because of your attitude.

Hmmm...someone is a bit tense. :)

There is no longer an Orange network in Thailand. It is now owned by TRUE and has been re-named TRUE MOVE.

Since the card had an expiry date of July 2007, you can be assured it will be DEAD. If fact, I wouldn't be surprised if your number hasn't already been re-allocated. Try calling it. :)

Anyway, once you hit BKK, pop into a 7/11 or Family Mart and pick yourself up a Happy SIMPLE SIM for 49 baht. It has a 12 month validity. The caveat is that calls are 2 baht per minute.

You can change the tariff to a cheaper one for 30 baht or so, by dialling *1003.

When you are leaving, change it back for around 50 baht. That way, you can keep you number without having to top up constantly.

A big thanks will suffice. :)

I would assume the same. It may be possible to re-activate it by adding more credit but I wouldn't guarantee it. Phoning the number is a good idea.

My UK mobile number expired after 2 years of not being used and could not be reactivated. :D I therefore had to buy a new sim card for use there as my Thai mobile seemed to be blocked for outgoing calls in the UK. Until a day or two ago, my new UK sim card was showing Orange as an available network though this has now changed to True.

Never hurts to try but there really are only two chances of reviving a 16-month old card with "Orange" on it, slim and fat. They are already minor collectors' items and when you say "Orange" most people look at you funny.
