Hi all,

well Hooty's is nearly finished inside, anyone who is in walking street over the next few nights, are more than welcome to walk in and have a look at the new lay out. I will be in the bar with my mamasungs waiting to see if staff come along. We are going to have a soft opening on the 1st of November, as we don't know what staff we will have turn up. This also gives me a chance to sort out any teething problems we that might arise. As anyone knows in business nothing goes smoothly from the word go, but I will be more than happy to deal with any problems that arise the best I can. Please if you have a problem don't be shy to ask to speak to Paul, as I would rather deal with the problems as they arise (it always easier that way, and I should be able to stop it from happening to another valued customer)

Thanks for the best wishes Steve, yes the bar will still be called Hooty's. I wanted to change the name but licensing reasons I cant at the moment.

Paul, I have a serious problem in that on recent visits to Hooty's I find that I'm failing to maintain a hard on once I have been in the bar for a while. I never used to have this problem.

 

I attribute this problem to the cessation a year or so back of the hard-core lesbian live sex shows that used to be run there involving - amongst other things - whips, strap ons and dildos.These shows were guaranteed to ensure that a guy maintained his 'rock'.

 

Any plans to re-introduce them?

If I can find the girls to do them I will introduce them again. It was always a once a night show at around 12, when I have the girls to do that show I will post it on the boards.

Not so much as a smile from the unfriendly girls

 

As always Hootys reckons its a top draw when its not

 

The improvements are that there are a lot of girls, there are dancing stations near the bench seating and the toilets are well better.

 

But really the dancers are below average, unfriendly (to me anyway) and the beer price is simply an outrage.

 

Compare that to the new Club Insomnia, the girls were friendly, the drinks prices were reasonable and I had a great time

I am sorry you did not enjoy your time in hooty's.

Everyone has different tastes, and I have had many good comments from customers.

You can please some people some off the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time.

As you are the first person who has been in the bar and posted negatively I am still happy with our progress.

I was in last night for a short time and whilst, there were one or two not bad looking girls, overall I was disappointed with the line up. However it's early days yet - so hopefully that will improve in the coming weeks.

 

A sangsom & coke was 105 baht, better than the 120 baht it was before, which was a total rip-off.

 

Nothing to make me not go back though.

Thought I would update the Hooty's review in the cold (& sober) light of day

 

A new brighter Hooty's re-opened on November 1st 2007. The bar counter has been shifted to the corridor and there is now comfortable bench seating around 3 walls of the bar. This seating is perhaps a little far from the reduced and lowered central stage but there are now small dance stages in amongst the bench seating.

 

The toilets are a big improvement on the previous versions.

 

There were lots of girls on duty, both dancers and hostesses wearing attractive patterned dresses. As is usually the case for a new bar, the dancers weren't quite top notch, but there were still a few attractive girls on show. If the bar becomes successful then it will surely attract the cuties.

 

There were so many girls that it felt a bit lonely to be ignored by the lot of them, not so much as a smile. Nothing a kick from a mamasang couldn't put right though.

 

The music is clearly important to the bar. It is oldie farang friendly but perhaps a little more pop than other rock music bars. But this seems a good compromise as the music is a little more danceable for the girls.

 

The big downer on the bar is the price of beer. There is no draft and bottled beer is expensive at 115 Baht. This puts the beer prices in the top ten for gogos yet the bar seems pitched at a level in competition with bars selling beer for about half the price of Hooty's.

 

The previous incarnation of Hooty's seemed be in permanent decline due to pitching its prices always higher than the competition. It looks like this policy will persist under the new management.

Well, will def check when Im back in a few weeks but 115 bht for a beer thats steep and mgmt would surely do well to inroduce draft and a happy hour may be helpful too...just my thoughts....

Stopped by Hooty's Last night and instantly had a friendly welcome from Treacle and his staff. The place was jam-packed with ladies and even the waitresses were dancing around enjoying themselves which lead to a "party" atmosphere.

 

The thing that makes this joint stand out in fun town is definetely the music. Every old boy in the place had a toe tapping experience and i found myself having another beer to see what magic the DJ came up with next. We all ended up with "saturday night fever" on a tuesday night and "video certainly killed the radio star".

 

Paul mentioned a wee party coming up soon but i will let him announce it himself. (in case its private).

 

Re-drinks prices.

Well it has to be said that they are on the high-end scale and i do think draft would tip the balance from a GOOD bar into a GREAT bar.

 

Personally speaking i dont penny pinch a few baht if im enjoying myself, but i take the point made by the above posts.
