As far as golf goes, definitely get in touch with BM "Doghaus". He runs Solar Golf, a golf tourism company in Pattaya, but he also arranges regular outings each week that usually involve a lot of the ex-pats and whatever BM's may be in town. It's always a great group of guys, (and the occasional member of the fairer sex), and he's been doing this kind of work so long he's practically elevated it to an art form.

You will find a list, and some reviews, prices, maps and course details here:

Personally, I liked Legacy but a few of the recent reviews indicates its gone down hill recently with new ownership and I haven't played for a few years.

Alpine is very nice, but tough to get on as private and not cheap. Solar might be able to get you on.

Navatanee is close to city and has a good rep, if you can get on during the week (its private but website says open to international players during the week). I would call course. This is where I would try and get

on if I was in Bangkok based on it's location and good reviews.

Being a fisherman myself LOS does not have world or even village class fishing. If you want the best LOS has to offer you need to do at least a three day two night trip from Phuket to The Similans to find anything half decent. I can put you in touch with the best skipper there if it helps.

We just got back this morning from one of Solars Bangkok golf tours. Played Lam Lukka on Tuesday and a great course but it had rained heavily in the night and the course was closed to buggies except on cart paths. That made it a little heavy going but a great day. Takes about 1.15 minutes from central Bangkok but we went straight from Pattya with a 3.5 hour drive to the course.

The Alpine yesterday where buggies are not allowed on the course but you have to say it is in superb shape and don't be detered by 480 Baht for four Hagan Daas ice creams as Solar will pay anyway. :thumbup

Seriously, get in touch with Solar for Bangkok golfing.

Hilly the lake i fish holds 130 world records including a 400lbs plus airapama and a 264lb carp a little better than village class i think. but thanks for your advice

Sorry but missed the freshwater bit and yes it is good in the lakes but you need a guide for sure as the technique is very different to anything you might have seen before.
