banking question????

hi all i just got a position working out of singapore. getting paid in us dollars

the bank i have here in usa sucks.

what bank should i set up for easy access while working in asia???

ive used bangkok bank in the past but i wont be just in thailand ill be all over asia..

what bank do you expats out there reccomend for me too try???

I use kasikornbank, have an internet access as well. use it from australia quite regularly and had no problems. they pay shit interest so not worth having too much money in it. You might find one of the banks with branches in other asian cities suits you better though.

Honkers and Shankers (HSBC). Probably not the cheapest but you will get good service all over asia, and indeed elsewhere.

Speaking of Thai banks with a slightly different slant. Has anyone tried to use one for a land/house/car etc loan? I know most have saving interest rates that suck, but so do american banks. I was just wondering how much they charge on loan rates and if a farang could even get a loan.

Try Citibank they have offices in Singapore, Thailand, USA & Australia. Easy to transfer monies between related accounts.
