singapore airlines is my favorite airline but i just found out that starting in june 2008 they will no longer offer a direct lax to singapore flight and will eliminate their executive economy seat option. now you must stop in taipei and it will add about 5 more hours to the lax-bkk flight! oh well, i guess it is time to change to thai airways but i will miss those singapore flight attendants!!

The non-stop service will continue ............ it's just that the seats will cost a small fortune.

 

I'm not sure about the Thai option ........... they are looking to bin the non-stop as well and routing through either China or Korea.

I flew on Singapore from either SFO or LAX in Jun 06 using my United airmiles and we made a stop in Taipai, it was only about an hour. They let a few paxs off and a few more were loaded on, I think you had the option of staying on board if you wished.

No argument that SQ is the best airline if we ignore price, but it is expensive. A year ago I used my Delta miles for an F ticket to BKK and I doubt that flight experience could be beat.

 

But seriously, you can fly for half the cost on either EVA or CI and you don't have to go through Singapore. Yes, Thai is more direct, but still costlier.

 

I fly EVA in exec economy for about $1100 round trip or either EVA or CI for about $2100 round trip to the west coast USA.

 

I can not come even close to this price on SQ.
