Motorcycle side car .

Looking for the one normally put by Thais on the little bikes .Have seen some nice ones in chrome .

About 1 year ago there was an article in the newspapers saying that Pattaya was too stop issueing new licences for motorcycle side cars. i.e no new ones were to be produced as they clog the traffic and are slow/dangerous etc.

 

Obvioulsy TIT and i dont know if this fell into a hole and forgotten about....but it may be a reason you're having trouble tracking 1 down....maybe go second-hand????

Maybe true ,but they are a lke a Thai institution .Do you need a special licence ? I thought you could just stick one on your bike .

They are illegal...... well for farangs they are. It is regarded as a non approved modification of a motorcycle to attach a side car. Of course they turn a blind eye to Thais... as it is often their means of doing business. A farang I know uses one though and has learned to accept the occasional 'fine'

I found a sidecar and its now fitted .Its all in Chrome and looks really good .Cost 19000 baht .They had a normal one ( metal painted ) for 8000 baht . The workshop that do them is on the junction of Pattaya Thai and Soi 7.A little bit up the road on the opposite side from the Cat office .
