Hotels In Chang Mai

I'll be in Chang Mai Next week.

 

Can you please suggest a Hotel which is near "ACTION AREA "

Ok it aint the ritz but i find "travellers inn" on the Loi kroh rd a cheap and cheerful joint. Air room with TV comes in at 500baht and its seconds away from the action.

 

Note; When you check in, say you used to have a discount card but cant find it and they will give the discount anyway (if you smile)

I use the Montri Hotel at Tapae Gate.

750bt with wifi in the rooms.

 

Either there, travellers or raming lodge would be fine.

I enquired at the raming lodge last month and found the price quite high for what you get.

that is right in the middle of the action. Owner is a nice Belgian fellow and his wife. Email them and he

might be able to offer a good deal.

 

 

I stayed at the Porn Ping hotel, which was a quick ride (50 baht) and 5 minutes from the action center, it was a nice hotel and i was able to pull a few freelancers from the danceclub in the basement.

 

Recommend Spicy's as a late night (after bars close) pickup place, all the cabs know how to get there.

Ok guys, thanks for the replies.

 

I just got back from Chieng Mai (that is how they spell it).

 

First night was taken by the (Airport Meter Taxi) to stayed at Lai-Thai Guest House.. it was a smelly dump! for Bt650.

 

Next night moved into VEPA house .... much more cleaner place for only Bth400 for a room with a good fan (aircon Bt500).

People at reception very friendly..only a cleaner lady who I think was having a few bad day.

 

If you shop around it is easy to find a good & clean place for a good place.

 

I would not recommend those Places like Pingporn and others as I think they are expensive for low season.

I'm going to respectfully add that I think Porn Ping Towers is in desperate need of a makeover. The rooms are old and very dated. Not really worth the money. I my laptop and charger managed to take out the power in my room to the point that they needed to move me....no fuse??? Scarey. I could also hear varmints living in the walls behing my bathroom.

 

The service was good, food OK and the two pools and two nightclubs made for an interesting stay, but, I will be looking for a new place next trip to Chang Mai.

 

It's a shame because it could be really great.
