With all this talk about exorbitant prices of airfares,I was amazed to find a fare from Auckland-Bangkok on expedia for Oct/Nov which at NZ$965 R/T was cheaper than 3 years ago.

Whilst it is only of use to the small amount of Kiwi mongers and involves an aircraft change in Brunei (1+ hour on ground only) both ways,it goes to show that there are still bargains out there if you can pay and get time off at a moments notice.

This fare was also available from Austalia but involved a lengthy layover (17 hours).

That's not a layover, it's a stopover. A city tour, hotel and breakfast should be included.
